Jozzy has spent years helping shape the sound of others but this chapter is about reclaiming space for herself. From stepping away from nonstop sessions to fully locking in on her own music, she’s moving different this era. Her latest work Soundtrack 2 Get Her Back reflects that shift of exploring love, growth and the complicated space between fantasy and reality. This chapter is about trust in her voice, timing and in the story she’s still writing. With a focus on authenticity and a deepening faith, Jozzy isn’t just creating music, she’s defining who she is within it.
DSRPT.: When listeners are hearing this new body of work, what side of Jozzy are they discovering?
Jozzy: They’re gonna discover the vulnerable side, the side that’s not so masked up trying to be the cool kid in the room. Everybody think I got all these girls, I don’t know, this folklore about me having all these girls, which is nuts, it’s not that. I’m a creature of habit. I love, love. I romanticize everything. I romanticize everything because I love soundtracks and I love movies. Movies taught me how to love. Soundtracks taught me how to feel with those characters. Sometimes I overdo it and I over promise probably because my eyes want more but my heart don’t really know how to handle it. I think that’s what this album is all about. Soundtracks and R&B and movies play a big part of how I love, but also, it’s a downfall because those movies don’t show when it gets bad or they just show one time it gets bad but it gets bad a lot.
