Place & Process is a new exhibition where making and meaning come together. Two artists, two practices, one shared space. I’m proud to share new work created by Design LSC for Place & Process currently on show at Blackpool & Fylde College bringing together Iain H. Williams and Brendan Shaw. Working with Iain, I’ve had the privilege of seeing his thinking, his mark making and his commitment to process as both method and mindset. The graphics respond directly to the exhibition themes, using typographic layering to suggest process, place, and two individuals coming together through art making. The work sits between design and artistic expression, reflecting a studio practice grounded in craft, experimentation and dialogue. Alongside the identity work, we’ve also created a limited edition poster and a series of art prints. These have been realised using Brendan’s printmaking and Iain’s mark making, the result is a collectors piece that carries the physical signature of both artists’ processes. A publication featuring both artists’ work is currently in production and will be available via each artist’s website. The wider project also includes a talk event hosted by Blackpool School of Arts at Blackpool & Fylde College, and delivered in conjunction with Creative Lancashire. These collaborations matter. They create space to step outside purely graphic design and immerse in making where ideas, materials and instinct can lead. Process is never fixed. Place is never static. Festive Project 25: Creative Lancashire X E2M @escape2make For our Festive Project this year we collaborated with E2M and @washcreativestudio to highlight the amazing work the organisation does to provide young people with access to creative opportunities through its workshops in safe, kind and welcoming spaces. E2M work hard to keep their activity and delivery free to access for all young people, to ensure all 11-18s in the Lancaster and Morecambe area can access a safe space where they make friends, explore their creative passions, and contribute to their local community.
