2026 Lancashire Audience Choice -
If you follow LA1Shorts, and you've seen our screenings before, you'll know we do our best to give opportunities to new, young, and first time filmmakers. Our Lancashire Audience Choice category is always popular, and decisions on selection always tough. This year our selection panel wanted to give opportunities to three filmmakers/groups...
1) Escape2Make Film Club - "Murder at the Museum: Trouble in Two". Edited by Ethan Ward, Film Club Lead, the young people created a murder mystery comedy, acted and shot by Escape2Make's free film club in Lancaster. Our panel thought it was great to see fun and learning all coming together!
Over the past few weeks, a group of local young people, guided by artist @rosietaconglass and researcher Dr Maria Walach from @lancasteruni , have been working on artworks inspired by the Northern Lights!
This has included creating colourful drawings, sculptures, and upcycling furniture!
On Monday, we all gathered together to celebrate all of their hard work and held a party in our garden space!
There was lots of dancing, kazooing, and ice cream floats!
We are so proud of everything the group has achieved, and can't wait for their next creative adventure!
We're so excited to announce that we'll be hosting a FREE employability workshop with Siobhan Courtney from @theeventusrecruitmentgroup , open to all under 25-year-olds!
Come along and learn all how to build a strong CV that stands from the crowd! You will also be able to enjoy some 1:1 time with the Eventus team, where you will be able to strengthen your interview skills, build confidence and develop the practical skills needed to secure employment opportunities.
Eventus will support you with creating professional CVs, tailoring applications, improving communication skills, and preparing for interviews through mock interview practice, feedback, and employability guidance.

E2M's Drama Club proudly presents: In their voices!
11-18 year olds in E2M's Drama Club will be delivering a set of monologues & duologues that range in genre, tone & content but all come from young voices
Laugh, cry and listen whilst this group of budding young actors deliver powerful and entertaining pieces that they have selected themselves, along with music performances from young musicians. Led by Ciara & Lily from @theperformancestudiosuk , this group have been developing drama skills over the last 6 months in a powerful partnership project involving the West End Playhouse and The Dukes Theatre.
Escape2Make is proud to platform these young voices.
Join us for this historic first-ever showcase and celebrate the coming together of various arts organisations in a positive and powerful collaboration - with young voices at the very centre.

Earlier this year, we had the honour of receiving an invitation to attend a tea party at Buckingham Palace!
The tea party invitation was part of winning the King's Award for Voluntary Services, which E2M received earlier this year!
The award recognises all of the hard work our volunteers, trustees, funders, and friends put into providing the young people of Lancaster and Morecambe with free creative opportunities!
Needless to say, we are so incredibly proud and grateful for each and every one of you, and we can't wait for more adventures!
A few months ago, we were incredibly proud to announce that Escape2Make won the King's Award for Voluntary Services - the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK 👑🏆
As part of this recognition, members of our team had the honour of attending The King’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace!
It was such a surreal experience, and we are incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity!
Some highlights of the day include:
Getting to meet some incredible people and learning about all the fantastic things they do for their community;
Meeting the Queen and telling her a little bit about what we do at Escape2Make;
Celebrating our fantastic volunteers!
This recognition doesn't just belong to us! It belongs to all of the wonderful volunteers, trustees, funders, partners, and friends of Escape2Make who keep proving how important it is to be able to provide a safe, creative space where young people can learn new skills, meet new people, and make a difference in their community!
So thank you to everyone who has supported us! We are so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you!

The film is loosely based on the legend of the tee-total prisoner who refused to have his final drink before being hanged. Had he taken his final drink, he would've been in the pub when his pardon arrived by courier. (source: @lancmorebay )
We were very lucky to be able to film in the fantastic @lancasterescaperooms , who kindly let us use one of their rooms as our filming location!
And thank you to Esme Wright (@esmetheepic ), one of our fabulous interns, who made 2 wonderful cow masks for us to use in our film! (if anyone in our network ever needs a wonderful prop-maker, let us know, and we'll put you in touch)
