We have some very exciting news to share 🔔✨ After RHS Chelsea Flower Show, our On the Edge garden won't just disappear, it will be reimagined and rehomed at Park Hill, Sheffield. This location means the world to us. Sheffield is where our organisation was born, brought to life by pioneering activists like Ethel Haythornthwaite. It was here, close to the Peak District - the very first National Park that CPRE campaigned for - that our roots were laid down. Sending our centenary garden back North feels like a truly beautiful full circle moment. We couldn't think of a more fitting place for it to live on. Originally built in the 1960s Park Hill has been transformed in recent years by a joint venture partnership of Urban Splash and Places for People with the pair working together to create hundreds of new homes, amenities and green spaces. #Sheffield #NationalParks #Countryside

It's here 🥳! Future Rural is out in the world — and after two years in the making, we couldn't be prouder. Writers, farmers, ecologists, activists and thinkers have come together to ask one urgent question: what does the countryside mean to us, and what could it become? Essays and poetry on habitat loss, housing, creativity, community and the land we share. A celebration and a call to action — published in our centenary year, as CPRE marks 100 years of protecting the countryside. Thank you to every contributor, and to everyone who joined us at the launch last night. Get your copy today! Link in bio. 📖

#ad | This year at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the Campaign to Protect Rural England are shining a light on one of the unsung heroes of our countryside; the edge lands. I’m lucky enough to live right next to an edge land, but this is in part because my house was built on what used to be edge land itself. As cities grow our countryside shrinks and our edge lands are under constant pressure from development. We use this space every day, if we need to decompress, get some exercise, feel the sun on our faces or just sit quietly for a bit. It’s where I forage in hedgerows and the kids practice cartwheels. Where the dog gets to run free and where my kids first saw wild badgers. These places are more than just the edges of towns, they are the places we seek refuge when we need a connection to the natural world. We want to hear about your edge lands and how you use them 💚 If you want to read more about this garden and the campaign, please head to the link in my bio. @cpre @the_rhs @saraheberlelandscape @project.giving.back #edgelands #cpre #chelseaflowershow #rhschelsea
