After renaming the building after himself, President Trump now plans to close the Kennedy Center, home of the National Symphony Orchestra, for a two-year renovation project.
Musician @actualbenfolds , who stepped down from his post as the symphony’s first ever artistic adviser when Trump announced his takeover of the center, joins Chris Jansing to share his concerns about the arts under a second Trump administration.

So sad to hear of Mark Volman’s passing. I hadn’t seen Mark in years, but I cherish the times we spent with him and Emily. Whether it was dinners, brunch, comedy shows or just hanging out, it was always a wonderful time. Mark was kind and extremely funny. I loved when he would tell stories from his long and exceptional career. One fond memory that I have was at Bella Napoli Pizzeria here in Nashville. Sandra and I met Emily and Mark for dinner along with Andrew and Nicole Higley. We had dinner inside and then Mark decided he wanted to sit in with the band outside. It was a 2 piece band. Mark got up there and the improvisation was off the charts. It was like a mini Flo and Eddie show. Our whole group was basically crying with laughter the whole time. The outside seating was packed. I looked around and NOBODY was paying attention. I think it was Vanderbilt weekend and it looked like a bunch of miserable families staring down at their plates. Mark was riffing in between songs and just saying incredible stuff. His catch phrase all night was “…here at Bella Napoli. All you can eat pizza, whatever it costs!” At some point in the evening he sang a lounge version of Happy Together and went over to peoples tables with the mic to ask them how their food was, all while wearing a track suit. Incredible stuff to witness. “Billy the Mountain” has been on repeat over here and it might be time to watch 200 Motels again. My heart goes out to his family. He really was a legend and will be dearly missed. Photo taken at (I think) Margot for brunch.

Ben Folds Live With The National Symphony Orchestra is out now.
I co-produced this with Ben and David Boucher. Mixed by David Boucher. Mastered by Kim Rosen @knackmastering
It was recorded over 2 days at The Kennedy Center last October before the circus came to town. I just love the orchestral arrangements of Ben’s music and the NSO is full of such stellar musicians. David did such a beautiful mix on it and Kim slayed the mastering. Love this album.
