Few cities on earth feel like this one. There’s no working when you’re here. You’re just lucky. There’s no space between the other worlds and the world in front of you. There are friends that you’ve known for a decade plus- then having not seen them in a few beats- it’s like you just went out for a smoke at set break. Maybe there’s a spell over the place. Or maybe it’s the only place free of one. Thank you New Orleans. Every single time.

Time to get home and finally get myself into the studio and make a new album. Real ready.
Starting 2024 with the release of a video I directed and a song I wrote with a group of musicians/artists who I care about more than I can say. Most of us have been through thick and thin together and I’m feeling an intense need to express my gratitude. My New Year resolution is to pour deeper into those I love, and build on what family is all about.

One of the most important nights of my life (artistic or otherwise) to sing these songs with my hero @williambellmusic . Thank you @runrunsully and @alexdrossart and @spencertweedy for laying it down thick. I can hardly believe that was real life. A Christmas miracle!! Thank you @johnleventhal for inviting me into “This Is Where I Live” which won a Grammy and should win one every year in my not so humble opinion.

We walked into this world together seven years ago today. He was only a few months old then. Cannot find the words to express the beauty of watching him grow under these trees. No one can ever tell me that magic isn’t real. Thinking of my friend and Poet Laureate Ellen Kort today. Still feel her hands in the dream.
