I am an actress living in Minnesota, and I recently won a contest to attend the Prague Shakespeare Summer Intensive in June. The contest awarded me some funding, but I still need additional support to cover my flight, room, board, and tuition. This opportunity is a dream come true, and I am determined to make it happen. Attending the Prague Shakespeare Summer Intensive will be a transformative experience for my acting career. There will be 70 famous playwrights and casting directors teaching in Prague, and I will have the chance to act in two productions and perform all around Europe. This exposure and training would be invaluable, opening doors that simply aren’t available to Latinas and black actresses in Minnesota. Being able to learn from and work with such renowned professionals would help me grow as an artist and expand my horizons in ways I never imagined. I would like to sincerely ask for your help. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and as a woman of color, I am honored to be recognized by the playwrights at the intensive. There is something haunting about finally meeting a character you’ve carried in your spirit for years. Being the only person of color in Salem mirrors many spaces I’ve navigated in my own life and career. This role is more than a role to me. It’s truth, history, fear, resilience, and voice.

Honest moment. As an actress chasing my dreams in the Midwest, it’s easy to feel stuck. But what people don’t see is the hard work and dedication that goes into my craft. I’m still on cloud nine after last night’s incredible staged reading! I’m beyond honored to have been chosen by this talented ensemble, especially since it’s been years since they’ve welcomed a new face to perform with them. The warm welcome from the @lanesboromn @commonwealtheatre @lanesboroarts community truly made me feel part of the family. Performing in this beautiful town was an experience I’ll never forget. Grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something so special. I’m still pinching myself to see if it was all just a magical illusion. The team’s warmth and trust in choosing me, a new face, was truly humbling. And the audience’s enthusiasm and support was the icing on the cake. I auditioned to be a part of, My Husband Died in a Brothel, because it is so different from anything I’ve ever done. I always do Shakespeare or the brown girl next door lol 🤣 Also, this film gave me a chance to work with a crew who uses sign language 🤟🏽 I’ve been on bilingual sets of English/Spanish of course cuz I’m🇨🇺 duh. But this was my first time with ASL! I’ve been wanting to show my range of acting. Like yes I enjoy being known as the overly serious thespian. But I am a naturally playful person (in real life). I got to be a bit of a ditz for this role and I’m proud of myself for stepping out of my (on set) comfort zone. I have great comedic timing and it was fun getting to show it.
