Creativity never goes away.
For @paulamansart , the way back came through creating with her daughter. She tapped back into the playfulness and fun aspect with her daughter.
No big reset. No grand plan.
Just real moments that brought her back to her practice.
That’s how creativity returns, in the most unexpected way.

➕ FILM SCREENING ➕
Black Art: In the Absence of Light (2021)
Saturday, April 25th
5:30 pm
In support of our current exhibiton “Paper Weight: Prints and Works on Paper from The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection”, Context Projects cordially invites you to join us for a special screening of the HBO Original documentary “Black Art: In The Absence of Light” - this Saturday, April 24th at 5:30 pm.
Inspired by the late David Driskell’s landmark 1976 exhibition, Two Centuries of Black American Art, the documentary Black Art: In the Absence of Light offers an illuminating introduction to the work of some of the foremost Black visual artists working today.
Directed by Sam Pollard, the film shines a light on the extraordinary impact of Driskell’s exhibition on generations of Black artists who have staked a claim on their rightful place within the 21st-Century art world. Interweaving insights and context from scholars and historians, along with interviews from a new generation of working African American curators and artists including Theaster Gates, Kerry James Marshall, Faith Ringgold, Amy Sherald and Carrie Mae Weems, the documentary is a look at the contributions of Black American artists historically as well as in today’s contemporary art world.
