TONIGHT, Sat. 1/31! Our fourth year joining our friend @cinematicvoid for #JanuaryGiallo wraps up at 7pm at the #SieFilmCenter with FELIDAE (1994) hosted by Keith Garcia @constantwatcher of Denver Film 🐈⬛️
FELIDAE is a shock to the system of German animation, a Don Bluth-esque cat-led murder mystery with incredible visuals, refreshingly mature storytelling, and a shocking dark streak. Housecat Francis grows concerned by an ominous number of local cat disappearances and decides to investigate with his one-eyed partner Blaubart. Their curiosity leads them to uncover more than they ever could have bargained for: a decades-long conspiracy of death cults, genetic experimentation, ritual killings, and so much more. Beloved by European animation fans but largely unavailable in the US until now, the time has come to give FELIDAE its due as a singular animation masterclass. Presented in German w/ English subtitles.

This Sat. 1/17, #JanuaryGiallo continues w/ Mario Bava's most violent offering, A BAY OF BLOOD (1971) hosted by Theresa Mercado of #ScreamScreen 🧤 New restoration from @severinfilms 🎞
It redefined the giallo, birthed the slasher genre and remains “the film that changed the face of horror forever” (DVD Talk). When a wealthy countess is murdered for her bayfront real estate, it will lead to the systematic slaughter of ruthless developers, greedy heirs and bad neighbors. Starring Claudine Auger (THUNDERBALL), Luigi Pistilli (YOUR VICE IS A LOCKED ROOM…) and Laura Betti (HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON) in “a film of unbridled ferocity that still shocks today” (Mondo Digital) – featuring landmark gore effects by 3x Oscar® winner Carlo Rambaldi (ALIEN) and an equally brilliant score by Stelvio Cipriani (BARON BLOOD).
Then join us:
