All the Eyewitnesses reports weren't 100% correct because they all didn't have a full information on the matter. The Police have now released an investigated account of the mob action on a Suspected Kidnapper that happened at Ologuneru Yesterday. According to the police, the man earlier accused of being a kidnapper is actually a medical doctor based in the United States, identified as Dr. Afolabi. He was reportedly rescued by police officers from an angry mob that had already set his Lexus RX 330 SUV ablaze before security operatives arrived. The two young girls found inside the vehicle, Deborah (15) and Rebecca (12), were also taken into protective custody during the incident. However, police investigations later revealed that the girls were not kidnapped. They were reportedly handed over legally by a woman identified as Mrs. Idowu Abimbola, who confirmed that the girls were being taken to assist Dr. Afolabi’s mother with household chores. The girls also confirmed the arrangement during questioning. Police said the misunderstanding started at the Polytechnic gate during a routine vehicle check. Suspicion reportedly grew after the girls were seen half-dressed inside the vehicle, while Dr. Afolabi was unable to give convincing explanations at the scene. His decision to leave the checkpoint also raised further suspicion. The situation became worse because the girls could neither speak Yoruba nor communicate properly in English, leading bystanders to assume it was a kidnapping case. The situation later escalated into a chase by angry youths who reportedly attacked the doctor despite his explanations. He sustained serious injuries before police officers intervened and rushed him for medical treatment. Police also confirmed that statements have been taken from eyewitnesses, including an Okada rider reportedly injured during the confusion, while efforts are ongoing to identify those involved in the mob attack and destruction of the vehicle. The Commissioner of Police condemned jungle justice and warned against spreading unverified information on social media, stating that false reports can create unnecessary tension and threaten public peace.

Some hours ago, residents of Ologuneru in Ibadan reportedly set ablaze a vehicle driven by an alleged kidnapper along the Eleyele–Ologuneru Road. According to several eyewitness accounts, the suspect snatched the vehicle at a supermarket with two children inside while their parent wasn't in the car. He was consequently being chased by commercial motorcyclists from the Eleyele area while allegedly attempting to escape with two kidnapped children inside the Lexus RX 330 SUV. During the high-speed chase, the suspect reportedly hit two people, who sadly lost their lives on the spot. Eyewitnesses said the bike riders eventually caught up with him close to Iyana-Ekerin junction, Ologuneru area, where the two children were rescued successfully. The suspect was then severely beaten by angry residents before the vehicle was set on fire. They obviously thought the vehicle was his and that he just kidnapped the two children. Police officers later arrived at the scene and reportedly took the suspect away. However, witnesses expressed doubts about his survival due to the extent of the injuries he sustained during the mob attack, claiming that one of his eyes was already badly damaged. We await the report of Police investigation to know the actual circumstances surrounding the incident
