According to several eyewitness accounts, the suspect snatched the vehicle at a supermarket with two children inside while their parent wasn't in the car. He was consequently being chased by commercial motorcyclists from the Eleyele area while allegedly attempting to escape with two kidnapped children inside the Lexus RX 330 SUV. During the high-speed chase, the suspect reportedly hit two people, who sadly lost their lives on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said the bike riders eventually caught up with him close to Iyana-Ekerin junction, Ologuneru area, where the two children were rescued successfully. The suspect was then severely beaten by angry residents before the vehicle was set on fire. They obviously thought the vehicle was his and that he just kidnapped the two children.
