I hope you find some take aways of some positive solutions from the progress these folks are making, serving some of the hardest to reach, hardest to teach, in their high-poverty schools.
They’ve blocked out so much noise and have found a way to stay focused on THE WORK, creating a culture that inspires and supports teachers and administrators to continuously improve and put kids first.
They have spent years trying to figure out how to deliver the foundational education every kid needs to thrive in school and they want you to learn from their failures (and success) so you can help your community. This is truly an attempt to open-source best practices! None of us are perfect, but we’re trying to make this public and visible and they were willing to share HOW they do things.
Making this film series was like watching a healthy family system operate, flaws and all. Their leaders and team members found ways to do something a lot of us may think is impossible. I’m rooting for them and proud to have had the opportunity to try and tell their story in a balanced and solutions-based manner. Watch the whole series on ChildrensLiteracyProject.org

He found these AMAZING character who gave us so much and were so vulnerable to share their stories. What an adventure it’s been (a couple fun bts pics in this thread). Thank you to my Dad (#nepotism) and the @childrensliteracyproject for trusting this goofball (me) to lead the production of this intense movie. I started as a childless boy-husband depressed and beat up by trying to be famous and now I’m now less of a boy with 3 children, still married and just beat up by fatherhood and a hard but meaningful project that revealed a Lot of my problems. I’d say I’m better than where I was!
