For many of us, Thanksgiving is a difficult time. Fortunately, we’re in Detroit and there’s no better time to connect with community of our chosen families than the night before thanksgiving. We’ve teamed up with Marble Bar to throw a party, not just an event which means get ready to make some memories!
To make things even more special, we have the Marble Bar Debut of LAÍRE (formerly known as Sweaty Palms), 90 minute set by the inimitable minimal babe known as britty. and a three hour closing set by Detroit’s up and coming high BPM heavy hitters Tempolimit (DET).
Prepare for real sonic story telling, good drinks, and great company on Detroit’s best dance floor as we all get ready to face our families, fears, and foes this Thanksgiving.
11/26 - We take for granted the amount of great DJs in our city, often packing lineups with 6-8 hour long slots. It’s my first time doing a solo curation project at @marbledetroit . I’ve been inspired by the long sets I experienced while at @amsterdamdanceevent . Longer set times are bad for marketing but better for the DJ. A good dj tells a story by decorating time. To give a dj more time is to give a painter more colors, this empowering them to create new and different forms of art. I wanted to empower this lineup to tell a deeper story, create a sonic journey, and really get the crowd to feel the music. Although this is the first, I hope it won’t be the last time I curate a lineup solo. Over the next year I look forward to expanding the amount of 2-5 hour sets in today’s scene, empowering deeper vibes, marketing be damned, let’s go on a sonic journey together tomorrow y’all. 📸 by @maxdashevsky (happy birthday).
