By the same token, a body in motion will stay in motion unless it collides with some sort of roadblock.

Women in their 30s face new challenges in managing weight as aging begins beneath the surface.
Testosterone levels drop by 1-3% annually, making it harder to sustain muscle and easier to gain weight. Since muscle is more metabolically active than fat, losing muscle mass can lead to fat gain. This shift occurs earlier in women due to naturally lower testosterone levels.
Understanding how hormones impact your health can empower you to take proactive steps for your well-being.

🔎 5 Surprising Reasons You’re Not Losing Weight
1️⃣You eat carbs before protein.
By starting every meal with protein before you eat carbohydrates, you’ll slow the absorption of sugars from the carbs and feel more satisfied on less food.
2️⃣You’re not getting enough quality sleep.
Getting less than 6 hours of restful sleep can boost the secretion of the stress hormone cortisol, which regulates appetite, and causes cravings for quick energy from fast-burning carbs.
3️⃣Your testosterone is low.
After age 30, levels of this important hormone decline in men and women, causing a reduction in muscle mass. Less muscle = more fat. Oral birth control reduces testosterone in women, causing weight gain. Have your free testosterone checked.
4️⃣You’re exercising wrong.
Are you only doing cardio? Make sure you do at least two sessions of muscle-and-strength-building workers per week. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, so the more you build the more weight you lose over the long term. And mix in some high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
5️⃣You may have a thyroid disorder.
A thyroid deficiency can lead to weight gain. If you rule out the other causes of gaining pounds, ask your doctor for these blood tests: TSH, T3, T4 and thyroid antibodies.

Ever wondered why you’re gaining weight despite getting enough sleep, exercising, and eating well?
⚠️Hormonal birth control pills might be the culprit.
Oral contraceptives can suppress testosterone production, which may lead to weight gain and impact other key aspects of your health, including reduced muscle mass, less-dense bone, low libido, poor cognition and memory, and compromised heart health.
👉 It’s crucial to measure your testosterone levels, especially in your 20s and before starting birth control. If you’re already on birth control, make sure to check your levels and discuss options with your doctor.

🤔 Think you’re safe from diabetes because you’re not overweight? Think again.
ANSWER: It’s a myth!
It’s a common misconception that only overweight people are at risk. But the reality is that diabetes can affect anyone, regardless of weight.
🔎As women hit their 30s, testosterone and muscle mass decrease, and weight gain—especially around the abdomen—becomes more likely, increasing the risk of diabetes.
✨The good news? Diabetes can be prevented and even reversed with early action. Reducing body weight and visceral fat is key.
Start by moving more throughout the day, incorporating regular exercise, and cutting back on sugary drinks and simple carbs.
Prioritize protein. Eat some protein, fiber, and healthy fat before consuming carbs to slow the absorption of sugars into your bloodstream.
And have your free testosterone levels checked.
Stay informed, and take proactive steps to safeguard your health!

Type 2 diabetes is a serious disorder but is often preventable and even reversible!
This condition develops when our body doesn’t use insulin effectively, leading to rising glucose levels.
It often begins with metabolic changes, like prediabetes, which can appear a decade before symptoms.
The good news? These changes can often be reversed with tailored medical interventions and making healthier choices.
Start with these habits:
🚫🥤 Skip Sugary Drinks: Eliminate sodas, juices, and sweet teas to keep blood sugar stable.
🥂 Limit Alcohol: Chronic drinking can disrupt hormones and spike blood sugar.
👨👩👧👦 Know Your Family History: Tailor your prevention strategy by understanding your genetic risk.
🍞 Minimize Processed Carbs: Cut back on baked goods, breads, and pastas 🥗 Eat More Protein and Fiber: Protein before meals regulates sugar absorption, and fiber helps keep levels steady.
🏃♀️ Exercise Regularly: Aim for 30 minutes of brisk walking or try HIIT workouts.
📉 Monitor Glucose Levels: Use a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to learn how foods affect you.
Your health journey is unique—tailor these habits to your needs and make informed choices for better health!
