Who reveal themselves slowly through story and art, and who learn through their own processes, to see and understand others. And despite our love of analogue tools, we know everyone that needs to learn Photoshop or Canva or Procreate or something to send their final work through email or what have you, to our global digital distribution network. And we know AI is here to stay, but right now, the problem is that AI is not a neutral technology. AI was trained on copyrighted work owned by human artists and companies run by humans. From January 3-11, @comicsworkshop hosted 5 participants ( Katherine Edmonds, her wife Marcia, Dusty McGowan, Michael King and Paige Lunde) in Waldo, Florida. Participants hunkered down to work on various individual comics projects, as well as visited SAW local. Thanks to @hunger_eating_munch and @maramccormick for hosting. From Katherine: "I am so grateful for the residency, having the time and space to be creative was invaluable to my art, my creative practice and my soul. SAW was so incredibly supportive of us taking the time to do what we needed to move forward on our projects. I feel like I made leaps and bounds on my project that would have taken me years, in just 7 days. The property we stayed on for the Bryson County Residency was so iconically central Florida, we were able to be in nature and get inspired as well as time inside to draw and be creative. The energy of the place is palpable. You can tell so many other creative folks have spent time there and will in the future. It was just the absolute best experience.
