🎨🏆 The ‘Colours of Humanity’ Art Prize is back for 2023, celebrating #Diversity, #Equity and #Inclusion through the arts. This year, under the theme of 'Our Changing World’ we invite artists to explore the profound shifts taking place in our world today across the social, cultural, technological, and environmental landscapes.
Unleash your creativity and let your artistic expressions reflect on the opportunities and challenges that global changes pose to people of different backgrounds, circumstances, and aspirations. The main award will go to the artwork that best aligns with the Prize theme alongside a cash prize of HK$30,000.
You can now submit your artwork until 25 September 2023. Shortlisted artworks will be announced in mid-October and showcased in an exhibition open to the public at the Goethe-Gallery and Black Box Studio from 30 November 2023. My new work "Trace Record" (2022) is proud to be shortlisted for the "Colours of Humanity Arts Prize" (former "Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize") and is now exhibited at Goethe-Gallery, Hong Kong Arts Centre until 23/7!
Trace Record
2022
Performance, body sculpture and photography
In this project, queer and masculine lesbian artist Monique Yim wears her chest binder that she had worn in her younger days and records the binding trace on her body. As art, it is a work of performance, body sculpture and photography. As life, it witnesses the body as the battleground of the conflict between a person's physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify.
This queer themed photography is the artist’s biographical artwork that connects her life and identity with her art again, similar to her Queer Series (2015 - Ongoing) and The Daily Norm (2019). Besides representing her personal and individual experience, the issue-based work also represents a common ground or collective experience in a certain extend within the LGBT and queer community, particularly the trans and masculine lesbian.

📸 One of my scanogaphy series (scanner photography) - “The Tiny Things” is presently being showcased in the “Colours of Humanity” Arts Prize 2022 Exhibition 🤓 Thank you for selecting my work as part of the exhibition. @justicecentrehk@coloursofhumanity 🙌🙌
This series of work is like a “prequel” to my current practice of 3D modeling👩🏻💻I am fascinated with the contrast of colour, and objects’ characteristics. At that time, I was doing artist research for my year 2 coursework, and Angki Purbandono’s art practice inspired me💡Eventually, I developed this series of work from 2017 until 2020. In 2020, I exhibited this work in a group show - Pathfinder” at Kunstquartier Bethanien, Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪✈️
Many social issues like subdivided flats, drug abuse, “Animal communicator” and etc, they are no longer ignored by people after the extensive discussion🗣🗣🗣 The process of capturing those objects through a scanner is a metaphor for the slow digestion of news and information, expressing my doubts and struggles in society.

Winning the Youth Award last year, "Tears of a Refugee" by Trinity Ro captures the sacrifice and hope of refugees. It captures a family sailing toward a brighter life in a river of the mother's tears.
The storks and birds in artworks not only are migratory birds that fly between Europe and Africa, but they also represent a new life and rebirth. Trinity wishes to convey the devotion of a refugee to their family's well-being and a beacon of hope for protection.
Entries this year will close at 5pm this Sunday 15 May. Join the Arts Prize today! .hk/artsprize/
