A market? In spring? Groundbreaking 🌷
Correction, mind boggling. Time is whizzing on at the @deemouthartiststudios Spring Market is just over a week away.

A Saturday morning well spent in @editaberdeen admiring fresh new stock, clecking and adding more ideas to our never ending to do lists!
Oh, and a nice bit of holiday chat with @annemarquiss who took over for the afternoon shift👌
Note to self: Compulsive spillers shouldn't wear white...
Banging brunch spotted in Stonehaven ☕
@nadarra.wine ticked all the boxes at the weekend.
I went for the apple french toast with yoghurt and didn't regret it. Plus, on the back foot of jetlag, two americanos from here did just the job👌
Be back soon!
Getting lost in Paris (and martinis) 🍷
Rediscovering @sixbynicoaberdeen_ after a pretty long booking hiatus.
The beef tartare was a treat and definitely unearthed my hidden passion for frickles (Frickle Olympics anyone?).
I won't bore you with the details of each course, and if I'm honest, the six paired wines have made them very hard to remember... On that though, the paired wines most certainly hit the spot - and so did the martinis at @thetipplinghouse and @ninetynine_aberdeen that quickly followed (and disappeared).
Got lost in the eyes of those martinis so I did.
It’s National Storytelling Week! 📚✨
We’re excited to be collaborating with local author @colin_does to celebrate the magic of storytelling. Find out more about his book Big Dog and the Home for Lost Hounds, his upcoming project and some of his favourite fellow local authors on The Wee Hive.
A stock take of my self-publishing journey so far 📚
Hours of writing, rewriting and endless proofing. Months of illustrating (and many redos). Lots of stepping out of my comfort zone and huge learnings. It's all been worth it.
I might not be at the top of the best sellers list (yet) but selling over 500 copies of 'Big Dog and the Home for Lost Hounds' feels like a million to me and I'm hugely grateful for all the support.
From the market visitors stopping by and hearing my rambles, to the stockists giving me a space on their shelves and the kids who listened very intently during community readings, it's been a wild ride. Having Big Dog's story out in the wild is an amazing feeling and I can't wait to share more.
Here's to another year of creating (and grafting). And if you've made it this far down the post, hit that reshare button and see who else we can reach (go aaaaan) 💛
Over and out 2025 🤙
Definitely taking the biscuit harping on about Hogmanay 2026, but if you do anything, get @stonehaven_fireballs on your agenda for this year!
Finally ticked it off the list last night and what a way to say goodbye to 2025 🔥
Proud as punch it's Christmas🎄
Hopefully this one isn't as chaotic as the last (😮).
Earlier this month, I shared a short story about Ramsay's first Christmas with my newsletter subscribers and in the spirit of festivities, here it is. Enjoy!

Big Dog's chaotic Christmas
The tree was up and sparkly decorations were donned,
Dressed with baubles matched perfectly, and a star fit for a wand.
A handful of presents beneath, each wrapped with much care,
Festive-themed paper, complete with ribbon, coiled like curly hair.
Big Dog was puzzled by a fir in the middle of his home,
“What’s this all about?” he pondered, “I’ll investigate when I’m alone.”
Mum and Dad waved him goodbye as they left for their night out,
One with cocktails and nibbles, and a hearty measure of stout.
His nose caught a sweet scent that came from under the tree,
“Something’s in these presents. And I bet there’s something for me.”
Big Dog rummaged and scraped, opening the presents with speed,
Uncovering chocolates he did, and these ones he didn’t need.
He scoffed his way through the treats that smelt like a dream,
Polishing off all the chocolates, flavoured strawberry and cream.
With no stone unturned, the room was wrappers galore,
Leaving nothing behind but a pink sparkly floor.
He’d finished his mission with no present left to be seen,
Mum and dad returned to see their Christmas had become very lean.
“Oh my!” they cried while Big Dog sat proud as punch,
“Thankfully he didn’t find the turkey. We’d have no Christmas lunch!”

Merry Christmas folks!
