As the Winter Olympics begin this week, I keep coming back to one of the most meaningful projects Iāve ever had the chance to be part of: Far From Home.
This series was born from a simple but powerful question:
What does it take to chase a dream⦠when everything around you says itās impossible?
We followed six athletes from countries with little to no winter sports infrastructure. No big sponsors. No guaranteed paths to glory. Just belief. Grit. And the hope of representing their country on the worldās biggest stage.
Athletes like:
Carrie Russell (
@carrieicequeen ) & Jazmine Fenlator (
@jazminefenlator ) ā Bobsleigh, Jamaica
Shiva Keshavan (
@100thofasec ) ā Luge, India
Julian Yee (
@julianyeeee ) ā Figure Skating, Malaysia
Their stories reminded me that behind every athlete is a family, a community, and a lifetime of quiet sacrifices. That success isnāt just measured in medals, but in the courage it takes to keep showing up.
We traveled across the worldāShiraz, SĆ£o Paulo, Manali, Kuala Lumpur, Kingston and moreāfilming 18 days with each athlete. Not just their training, but their lives. Their homes. Their humanity.
And through it all, one truth kept rising to the surface:
We become who we are because of the people who believe in us.
The ones who carry us when weāre tired.
Who remind us that weāre enough⦠long before the world ever notices.
Thatās what this project taught me. Thatās what I carry with me still.
Grateful to have built this alongside my brothers
@phil.hessler @gknowproductions @dylanwineland @j_.cal and so may others, and the teams at
@boardwalkpictures , Madica Productions, The Olympic Channel, NBC Sports, Snapchat, and Bridgestone.
Far From Home may have been filmed for 2018⦠but these stories feel more relevant than ever.
In a world that often divides⦠may we keep telling stories that remind us of what we share.
Of whatās possible.
Of how far belief can carry us⦠when we donāt walk alone.
