Back by request, this time itās not a residency, itās a celebration of ten years of @stella_shopandcatering with @suzy__fortuna !! Not a residency, itās me DJing, got it? š¤
At the fundraiser tonight Iāll be doing something completely different, again, to challenge myself. Iāve been learning E-Magic Notator software all winter in order to do a remix the original 80s way, and tonight Iāll be testing out a Cass McCombs remix Iāve been working onāentirely sequenced on Notator running on a single AtariST. Bypassing the arrange window and playing the Notator transport controls manually to force the polymetric track mutes. Just raw MIDI and straight hardware. Come through. On at 2245. *dm for address if you donāt know what āthe garden placeā means
When life doesnāt hand you lemons, you make an app for that.
Starved for a proper Muder Capital TV app for at least a decade, im elated to whip one up and beam it to my appleTV and now I donāt have to do terribly unreliable screen sharing anymore.
Now itās time for tits tits tits thanks to this JesĆŗs Franco film. #murdercapital #ajita #jesĆŗsfranco #sadomania @intergalacticfm
The Baltimore Roller Residency at Keith Bar comes to a close this Saturday. To help me tie up this 38-year phantom chase, Iām bringing in DJ Your Body. @nicht_deutsch
Not only is he hauling a massive crate with some baltimore club gold in it, but he has the real-world history to back it up: back in the early 2000ās he was lucky enough to step into the legendary Club Kingz in Baltimore and asked to hear a recordāonly to have Rod Lee and his crew throw it on the shop system and absolutely redline the PA, blowing his ears out in the best way possible.
Together, weāre dipping into the origin point,
Weāre tying this whole residency together by digging into the absolute genesis of the Baltimore Club sound,
the first true blueprints.
Weāre spinning the earliest tracks from that pivotal era when rink DJs finally decided to try their own hand at producing, the exact moment when they stopped just blending imports and started building their own raw, mechanical chassis, led by pioneers like Frank Ski, his Doo Dew Kids, and Rod Lee himself!

Baltimore Roller Residency kicked off last night and I canāt wait for the next one. Lots of fun, thanks to everyone who came, and to @justalightwriter for the lights. We will be upping it a notch next time! Letās go letās go! Be there on February 21st!
What do Belgian Industrial, DC Go-Go, and Latin Freestyle have in common?š¼
In 1980ās Baltimore, they were all the same thing: Fuel for the rink. š
Starting tomorrow itās a Saturday thing at Keith: we are revisiting the āBaltimore Rink Sound.ā šš¤ It was a time when DJs ignored genre rules and focused entirely on energyāpitching imported EBM and New Beat tracks to mix with Freestyle dubs and extended dance mixes of the current hits, creating a high-speed collision of emotions and mechanics.
This is the music that predates (and created) Baltimore Club. No radio edits. Strictly the extended, stripped-down B-sides that kept the skaters moving.

Between 1986 and 1990, the Baltimore roller rink sound was a collision of Latin Freestyle, Industrial, New Beat, top 40, and Go-Go, mixed live by DJs who would go on to define the cityās musical legacy. Ask me what do Crystal Waters and Milli Vanilli have in common.
It was the primordial soup of Baltimore Clubābuilt from the āDubā mixes and āBonus Beatsā of 12-inch maxis, designed solely to keep the floor moving.
Revisiting where I first heard all the music that made me fall in love with production; I was at these roller rinks, and now Iāll be culling my personal collection of vinyl for a surreal time capsule that no one talks about.
Join us at Keith Bar for the Baltimore Roller Residency. A deep dive into the B-sides and vinyl roots of the pre-Club era. #djspen #djboobie #djfrankski #djscottieb poster by @jolicoeur.work
Some may know Iām a lover and creator of amateur films since I was 13, which is why Iām extremely prode (pride is a sin) so be performing during this yearās WIPE AMATEUR FILM FESTIVAL in Berlin. In 9th grade my new friends showed me videos they were making on their parentsā camcorders (this is 1988 and maybe 1 in 10 families had something that could record video even in the well-off suburbs of the DC area Military Industrial Complex.) It blew my mind and we started making our films together. 10 years later meeting some others at university and sharing what we did with what they did when they were young, we decided to restart the game together; this time with strict rules to keep it as spontaneous and weird as we had when we were 13; use only videotape, only live ambient sound for the scene, no matter what shoot sequentially and only use the record button and the rewind button on the camera for any editing. I dubbed it DOGMA2000 in tribute to Dogma 95 but soon after as our crew became big enough, the name SIKETRIKE stuck (named after my childhood tricycle that we turned into a film character, literally my tricycle with cartoon eyes taped to it that would roll into a shot via a pulled piece of string and yell āSIIIIIIIKE!ā as it rolled out, in response to someoneās fake compliment to someone else) Even after I moved away, I kept on making films, always by myself, always with no budget, and always trying to keep a bit of weird in it. Swipe to see some excerpts, and think that some are lost in the trash our mothers threw away, and others are hours still to transfer from NTSC Hi8 cassettes, AND I still have 5 short films on 16mm+magstock in my closet I need to digitize from my 2 years as a film student. So come to WIPE, enjoy the amateurs making the real deal, and afterwards dance to the Algorithmic Body Music, itāll be an old school NOVO LINE setup baby! #novoline #wipefilmfest @wipe_film_festival@imperiumshaving@daniel_davies@silent_hawk@katherinestpaul@emmanuel_nicolaidis@thrilljockey@skingraftrecords@osare.editions@j_a_i_m_e_w_i_l_l_i_a_m_s@odbpowell@betsybartow75@therealcharlesbroccoli@volcom
OUT TODAY
Me and a large conglomerate of the Brescia club music world have gotten together for a fresh take on the RACCONTI album-> I took my stems and tore them up in my Euterpe filterbank and synced it to an 808 and added vocals of WhatsApp vocal messages from the crew at SPETTRO in Brescia. Luca Trent (aka TRENT) took my newly acidified stems and made it more electro. Label head Dama adds in his one remix we left out in the vinyl remix 12ā Tyler Pope (LCD Soundsystem, !!!) appears here with the remix we actually thought was too good for the original 12ā š¤£ Francesco Fonassi (of SPETTRO staff, aka QUASAI or as my son loves to call him āFOGNA!ā) is here with his very first remix, taking parts from the new version I made and stretching them out into rumbles)
And and and: we top it off with two unreleased tracks - one from RACCONTI sessions that wouldnāt fit, and another from a concept 4x cassette about Self-Help and Business Development that Ecstatic Recordings abandoned! N
