Hello summer ā˜€ļø ā˜ļø May 30th @cratebrewery in Hackney Wick we host our first open air event of the season in London: an 8 hour canal side daytime party featuring energizing and uplifting house leaning tracks to inspire a dance floor. ✮ @cococole is a DJ and producer known for her high-energy, queer-rooted sets shaped in spaces like Pacha Ibiza, XOYO, and cult party Big Dyke Energy. A regular across major festivals and underground clubs from Love International to Corsica Studios. With releases on labels like Peggy Gou’s Gudu and support from names like The Blessed Madonna and Sherelle, she’s built a reputation for a sound that’s both club-tested and forward-thinking - while online, she’s equally loved for her effortlessly cool track recommendations, often shared mid-dance from her soothing ocean-view home on the British seaside. ✮ @love_sensation_dj is a vinyl and digital DJ, splitting her time between the London and Berlin House and Techno scenes. She is a true believer in the power of the dancefloor as a transformative space, rooted in freedom and joy. Love Sensation often pays homage to her first dance music love, Disco, as one of the original dance genres to spark joy and euphoria on the dancefloor. But her sets may spanning all the genres that she plays; from Deep House, to HardGroove, to pure Pop - but always with an eye on channelling fun, joy and of course, love. ✮ @panooc is a DJ/producer/instrumentalist whose journey from jazz saxophonist to electronic artist has defined their fearless, genre-defying sound. Since emerging in New York’s house and techno scene in 2011, they’ve become known for high-energy sets that dive through house, acid, electro, and breaks - blending queer club influences from the US with the faster, rawer edges of UK dance music. Everyone’s favourite House daddy @prosumerama comes to town for the first time ever! Prosumer means to produce and consume and he does exactly that. He creates and he loves equally. The lexicon of house music. The man knows all and can play all. House music coming from Americas golden age being one of his absolute joys. No man can Jack like prosumer can. Enough said though, the man’s an absolute machine when it comes to dancefloor fillers and is one of the best DJs around. I can’t wait to host him in Hastings as a true legend of dance music. Bringing back the old age phrase of ā€œIf its good enough for Berghain, it’s good enough for Hastingsā€ On the night he’s joined by one of our favourite Hastings crew @cococole Coco is a technically gifted dj and an amazing selector. She’s done her time in the rave trenches and come out the other side with merit! Anyone who was at our NYD rave this year can testify how truly special she is. Bringing back the old age phrase of ā€œIf it’s good enough for Big Dyke Energy, it’s good enough for Hastingsā€ Early bird tickets are Ā£15 and are available via the more fountains resident advisor page or the link in our bio. See you down @theprintworks on the 5th of June! 😘😘😘

I could easily be a total hermit that never left the house but deep down I know that’s not actually good for you. Truly the best way to start the day is to get moving innit? For about 5 years I’ve done 10-20mins of yoga most mornings and that’s got me in a good headspace (I love Yoga With Kassandra + Yoga With Adrienne on Youtube), but I have this annoying brain where I need routine but get bored and restless as soon as I find one so I’ve found myself resisting or not wanting to do yoga as much anymore cause it’s getting too samey… If you’re someone who thinks they’ve got a good morning routine/s down, then please share as I’m really keen to hear! On the track, absolutely love this from Melbourne duo Wrong Way Up, sounding plucked straight from the 70s Afro disco world, using the same drum machines and synths to pay musical respect and draw inspiration from the likes of Frances Bebey, William Onyeabor and Lijadu Sisters. From a delightful album called Totally Right on the brill label Soundway who release really exciting music from around the world, often re-issuing forgotten gems and then over the last decade, nuturing contemporary talent. I have loved everything I’ve heard on this label. Dreamy beautiful lushness from South-Korean born and raised artist Park Hye Jin (who now lives and travels all over the world) made an impact with her debut EP in 2018. She then signed to legendary UK label Ninja Tune, with her follow up EP in 2020, which this track in from, before dropping her debut album ā€œBefore I Dieā€, and winning Best Electronic Record at the 2022 Libera Awards. The dreaminess her voice and instrumentation matched with some lofi house style beats resulted in various music publications and forums placing her in the newly coined genre of ā€œK-Houseā€ (for Korean, not.. well the other thing šŸ˜…). But, Park Hye Jin felt restricted by such a description as she draws from various styles of electronic music and hiphop to form her own sound. As well as this, she says ā€œa significant part of my work involves breaking social, cultural and industry boundaries that may not be immediately visible to international audiencesā€. I actually kind of find it a bit nauseating the way music press usually writes about music and artists because truly how can sound and music be reduced to words. So, ironically, as I write this post (and have spent a decade of my career talking about music), I invite you to just listen, and in the words of one of her latest tracks ā€œshut the fuck upā€. She’s just dropped her third album ā€œSo Much Have Funā€ last month and it’s delicious. Lots of beautiful interesting sounds, laden with groove from her beats and playful lyrical flows. I’ve just listened through this morning and standout tunes so far are ā€œBack In Londonā€, ā€œShut Up Give Me Kissā€ and ā€œSick Memoryā€. Oh and this is my new puppy called ā€œCannelliniā€. He’s a lil Chihuahua. Track ID : ė°•ķ˜œģ§„ Park Hye Jin - Like This Release Year : 2020 Label : Ninja Tune #parkhyejin #ninjatune #housemusiclovers #southkorea #koreanmusic

Looooveee playing this saucy little number from the rather unexpected duo of the UK’s Hot Since 82 and French electro clash + techno legend Miss Kittin. Taking lyrical inspiration from the Star Wars fictional universe, ā€œIn your Jedi underpantsā€ goes down as one of my favourite dance music lyrics of all timeand proves that you can really write music about anything, if you’re imaginative enough. From Hot Since 82’s 2020 album called ā€œRecoveryā€ which he’s described as a healing record. Naboo stands out stylistically, unlike the other tracks on the album, so I’m sure there was some consideration on whether to even include it on this body of work but I’m so glad it was as it’s one of my favey faves. It sounds like an exotic treasure island beach party to me and goes down in a warm up set sublimely so I find myself coming back to it time and time again. Be sure to dig into Miss Kittin’s back catalogue. I will post some more of her for you too so we can get into it. Saw a post a few years back about following nature + continuing hibernation Jan - Mar, then actually starting fresh + setting your intentions in Spring. It struck a chord with me, cause I can dip low in winter + also because it’s my birthday on the Spring Equinox, so it just feels like a good day to officially start a New Year. Even more so this calendar year as (I feel like a lot of people can relate) this winter has been A LOT. Lots of scary news from all over the world, coupled with a really rainy and drab winter here in the UK, + personally I’m going through a wobbly transformative time working out what I want from my life + trying to understand what teenage dreams to let go of + what skills to continue to make use of and where to place my feet next. I woke up this morning, + very luckily the sea was out so took myself and my new puppy for a beautiful sunny sandy beach walk + spoke out loud about the things I wanted to let go of (letting fear control my mind, speaking down about myself, analysis paralysis) + what I wanted to welcome (doing things even if I’m scared or feel like I don’t know what I’m doing, fostering community + friends, finding + making space for joy in the everyday + embracing + putting energy into it). I said to myself ā€œtoday is the first day of the rest of your lifeā€, meaning I could break the cycle + not have to stay in the rut I’ve been feeling in lately + honestly today I believed it. This is a great track to celebrate that as it was notoriously recorded during a very loose session where you can hear the guys laughing + joking still on the record. I adore how that basically proves that so called ā€œimperfectionā€ makes it so much better. You can hear them practically coming up with the verses as they go along, often hitting bum notes or weird ideas + it made me realise my obsession with the finished article + apparent ā€œfinalityā€ when really, the art IS the work in progress. So yea, if you resonate with this + have made it this far, do the thing, + do it now. Just 10 years ago now šŸ™ƒ I actually don’t remember this year like at all. I’d been doing overnight radio shifts for 3 years at this point and my brain and memory was officially mush. Been fun going through my collection and various ā€œBest Ofā€ lists from the year and those before, to remind myself of the wealth of exciting electronic music being released at the time. Love this overlooked one from UK artist, Mosca, from a two tracker with 2 different mixes out on his label Not So Much. Of course his most memorable and indelible track that sent shockwaves through the scene, was his 2011 release ā€œBaxā€. We used to get ready for nights out and just rinse that track on Youtube. Still though, I like to shine a light on the tracks that follow the big ones too and this one has never left my library. I was driving a Banshee down the Vice City strip and a whole new sonic world opened up before me. The vocals, the harmonies, the synths, the big snares and percussion, the groove. My mind was blown and I knew that whatever this sound was, I really liked it and wanted more. The Pointers Sisters are made up of three sisters, Ruth, Anita + June, and this is from their tenth (mad how many they churned out back then) studio album sitting alongside other hits like as Jump and I’m So Excited, and standing out with Ruth Pointers’ ear catching husky tone. Surprisingly it was actually included on the album as a last minute decision when the group heard the demo idea whilst taking a break after recording most of the album. They knew immediately it had to be included. Obvs a great call as it as it went on to soar through charts across the world and still stands today as a stone cold bop. Ultra Nate did a cover in 2007 with a bunch of remixes that all sound like skinny jeans and straightened fringes. I was a big fan of electro in its hayday but they’re all a bit shit if I’m honest… You can’t improve an already perfect song!! Genuinely in my Top 10 favourite tracks of all time. And if you haven’t heard it before, oh boy, enjoy. Track ID : The Pointers Sisters - Automatic Release Year : 1983 Label : Planet / RCA #thepointersisters #vicecity #gtavicecity
