Terri Weifenbach shares her thoughts on Soulever la poussière, a photographic series by Colin Jourdan, finalist of the “Sédimentation(s)” open call.
« It is rare in these days to have images, that in the absence of language, still intimate the unnamable, while also balancing on the documentary edge. Images that are beautiful enough to call to one across a room, showing the surface as we live, revealing visually little of the danger the earth contains, here in the Orbiel Valley. Her inclusion of science and images of light are the clue to look further, revealing only then, the clues of toxicity. » / FR : Il est rare, de nos jours, de voir des images qui, en l'absence de langage, suggèrent pourtant l'innommable, tout en se tenant sur la fine limite du documentaire. Des images suffisamment belles pour interpeller à distance, montrant la surface telle que nous la vivons, tout en révélant visuellement peu du danger que recèle la terre, ici dans la vallée de l'Orbiel. L’inclusion de la science et des images de lumière est une invitation à regarder de plus près — ce n’est qu’alors que se dévoilent les indices de toxicité. »
