A CREATIVE FORCE THAT BRINGS THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER
Varian has been a huge part of curating community in Charlotte, from her days at Charlotte Center City Partners to her work with the Knight Foundation.
But it’s her work with Camp North End — a previously invisible and forgotten property that produced Model A Fords as well as bombs and transportation vehicles for the military — that truly showcased her ability to bring creators, business people and the general community together.

This month featured an incredible talk from Dennis Reed, Jr. (@thedennisreedjr ) — “Create before you’re ready!” Don’t wait and don’t create alone! It was inspiring.

Our next CreativeMornings event is 2/13 (we skipped a week) and will feature a talk from the one-and-only CarlosAlexis Cruz, Artistic Director of Nouveau Sud Circus and UNC Charlotte Professor of Physical Theatre and Producing.
Cruz will be speaking on the theme of “camino,” inspired by centuries-old pilgrimage routes, and exploring journey, choice and discovery. And given his company’s powerful work on their show La Bestia — chronicling the perilous journey of Central American immigrants — CarlosAlexis is the perfect guide for this exploration.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy the usual CM/CLT fare – HUGs, high-fives, Bolts, :49 pitches and bad sponsor songs (washed clean by a professional performance of live music) – with a little room for excitement and intrigue. (But, more on that later.)
