📣 HYPHA PRESENTS - “cold call…” Curated by Cameron McClellan @cm150cc 🎟️ PV: Thursday, 23rd April, 6 – 9 PM 🔗 RSVP via Hypha Studios’ Eventbrite 📍 Hypha Gallery 3 / No. 1 Poultry 💭 Collecting and curating objects, images and texts from both public and personal sources as part of their practice, the artists in cold call … critically reflect on the different messages we may interpret from reading these artefacts and intuiting their origins. Visitors may pick up on references woven into the works by the artists to cult horror films, urban legends, fables and fairy tales, fictions and theories that arguably shape our remembrance of the past as much as the historical facts. These sensationalist readings are contrasted with the use of humble materials, paper, pen and pencil, spoken and handwritten word and a minimal colour palette blending into the austere environment of the gallery space. With this, the artists ask us to consider the fantasies that we use to animate and escape the routines of our daily lives.
Head to our website for the full press release. 👤 Featured artists: William Aghoghogbe @willagho Iseult Bailie @iseultbailieart Lauren Conway @_lauren_conway Rachel Irons @ratbagbeert Gabriel Kidd @ephemricala Evie Savini @eviesavini Philip Speakman @philipspeakman Kelly Wu @kellywustudio 🗓 Open: 24th April - 30st May 2026, Friday – Monday, 12 – 6pm Kindly supported by @cheapsideba

Felt like posting because I don't want to just post promo. Also am inspired by those who vicariously post straight to the grid and do not go back and edit after the fact. Dumping photos Google suggested I should delete because they are blurry and because it said so. Out of interest I searched "blurry" on Google Photos and it returned almost 75% of the photos I've taken with my cheapo Moto smartphone. I've bought smartphones like this partly so I wouldn't be too attached if I dropped, lost or had it stolen but this hasn't really stopped my attachment / addiction to using it. Looking back at these images of places I barely recognise - I do enjoy how bad they are.... And the fact that they barely resemble wherever I was at the time. Google wants me to delete the blurry images partly because it doesn't know what to do with them as it clearly combs through everything I've put online and can't identify what these are. Just finished this book "Exit Reality" by Valentina Tanni which talks about internet aesthetics and the obsession with unreal "liminal" fabricated spaces a la the backrooms - which to this day despite the amount of work of online cartographers still hasn't been pinned down to a specific time/place. I'm not going to delete them :)

Finally ... Only a couple weeks late ... I'm getting round to posting documentation of The Beginning is Near - Willow Swan and Ellis Berwick's recent performance and installation produced in response to Grant Mooney's (just passed) show at Chisenhale Gallery. I feel very privileged once again to have played a small part in helping this project come together - even if only as a head to bounce ideas off of and a pair of hands to help hold these heavy metal objects. No words right now - hopefully the audio and video here should capture a little of the arresting atmosphere Berwick and Swan captured there in that cold concrete windowless room. All credit should go to the shining stars @willow___swan @a_village_idiot // A massive thanks to the excellent team @chisenhalegallery for continuing to platform and support real contemporary practice. And to @lilxl for hosting this show within their own very excellent show //

Then, Now and Forever is on currently @set.stage.gallery (!!!) Until the 30th of September Wednesday to Sunday 2-9pm please drop down to @set.social.peckham and give it a look!!! It's been a pleasure to work on this show featuring the inimitable @babajidebriansartwork whose knowledge of Premier League history will always astound me! Many thanks also to the wonderful @elizabethalster whose oversight and stewardship has been essential to this top flight project! Many thanks also to @louiscaseley , @wildcitycharlotte and the teams at @actionspace and @set.social.peckham for all their support and guidance in bringing this top flight show all together! ... I might not be the biggest football fan around but there is something truly special in what this game does to bring people together. It's hard to ignore the way people light up in heated discussion of this beautiful game, and find a kind of poetry in describing the triumphs and falls of this story that refuses to stop being told. Season after season, 90 minutes at a time, history takes place on the pitch only for the slate to be wiped clean at the end of those 90 minutes with the possibility of another game and another chance at glory, perhaps next week or next year... Even as I forget another player's name or face or position or team (and am corrected with great patience by Jide/Brian), I find some hope in looking at football and seeing how community comes together (across the country and the wider world) through stories shared of "then, now and forever". ...

Stage Gallery is excited to announce that our September solo show will be showcasing the work of Babajide Brian in ‘Then, Now and Forever’ ‘Then, Now and Forever’ brings together a selection of drawings and prints from Babajide Brian’s ever-expanding series exploring the many connections that have brought people together through the last 30+ years of Premier League football. “The drawings explore the culture of the sport and how it has evolved. Through the drawings, I add in my own unique take on its history to the present. This artwork is based on research and highlights anti-discrimination and racism, which has existed for decades, not just within the sport but from a societal point of view as well. It not only focuses on the history of the Premier League but also focuses on each football club, its identity, its historical past, the supporters, and the city that it represents” - Babajide Brian Babajide Brian has been supported in his practice by ActionSpace. @actionspace This exhibition is co curated between Elizabeth Alster and Cameron McClellan Please join us for the opening night: 12th September 6-9 pm. The show will be on view on Stage Gallery until the 30th September, within Stage Gallery’s opening hours - if any changes are made to these hours, we will inform you on our Instagram!
