Bar Far has burned bright, but its apocalyptic light is soon to be extinguished. On Friday 20 March three live performances will inhabit for the last time the installation by Clementine Keith-Roach and Christopher Page, curated by Vittoria Bonifati and presented at Villa Lontana’s new space in Trastevere. LUKI, Emiliano Maggi and Michele Ferrari will activate the space through distinct sonic languages—songs stretched into theatrical atmospheres, ritual voices and electronics, and layered tape manipulations. Throughout the evening, a limited edition series of Bar Far glasses will be available for purchase. Doors open at 8:30pm. On Sunday 8 February, poet Jahan Khajavi and filmmaker and artist Ben Russell will animate Bar Far by Clementine Keith-Roach and Christopher Page. Khajavi’s poetry inhabits a zone where devotion and obscenity, lyricism and bodily candour, coexist without hierarchy. His voice moves through fragments of ritual, desire and autobiography, treating language as a tactile material—something to be tasted, wounded and adorned. Bar Far can be imagined as the metaphysical set of an unwritten film. Through modular synthesis and live manipulation, Russell will treat the installation as a resonant stage set, producing its own hallucinated soundtrack. With Bar Far, the lines between the arts blur—sculpture blends with architecture while painting makes it disappear—and trompe-l’œil trickery confuses our sense of what is made of what. Each day of the year has quote from an artist to inspire or remind one how to allow creativity into our everyday. Today’s quote by Hilton Als @hilton.als is to be porous to the ideas that an artist conveys - to submit to the experience of the art work. My quote was about transformation and how I allow for reverie to emerge out of the chores of daily life . As I currently sift through my bank statements doing my tax return I am reminded of the quote I shared with Katy - each receipt tells a story , memories surface with every transaction I log - this mind-numbing task becomes deeply reflective! Some people might call it getting sidetracked…. but to me creativity springs from unexpected places and often under constraint. #howtoliveanartfullife

Bar Far is a site-specific installation and working bar by artists Clementine Keith-Roach and Christopher Page, inaugurating Villa Lontana’s new space in Trastevere. Villa Lontana sits along Via Cassia, a major thoroughfare in northern Rome where modern buildings line the road. Inside its new space on Via Garibaldi, CLEMENTINE KEITH-ROACH and CHRISTOPHER PAGE’s plaster reliefs seem to grow from the walls for a new installation that also doubles as a bar.
