Made a little baby tea cup on a whim awhile ago. Coiled. Wasn't trying to do anything special, just reflexively using my hands to make something. It's nice and relaxing to do pottery in this way. That is, not trying to improve or make something amazing. Just doing something familiar and comfortable while hanging out with @potbellymish .
Latest round of cups. Really happy with how they turned out! I added white dipping glaze to the bottom of each of them in an attempt to help the coloured glaze stand out more but I don't think it really made a difference.
Canāt believe Iāll ever say this but LINK IN BIO! š¤£
The prop storeās website is now officially live after months of tweaking! I owe it to 2 people - the incredible @basmatitea who art directed, shot the websiteās images and essentially built the website brick by virtual brick + @kaininggw who also helped photograph, catalog and measure most of the storeās items. If you swipe to the last page you will see the Dummiesā guide to Shopify both of them left for this tech illiterate millennial.
Iām really proud of the site and it is a digital diary of all the shoots Iāve been on. The store houses props that @albeeybw and I shared, along with items I have thrifted from all over the world and hand carried back. Iām also excited to rent out @ouro_designs beautiful lamp which was shot in the studio. I could tell you a story about each and every item š„²šµš» the catalog has helped me see what is unused and have to be donated away, and I have now a faster rotation of props on shoot and we get maybe 10 new things each month so we keep it fresh. Plus I feel my client decks look way better with both Riceās and Cheyenneās photography.
Also a great tab Iāve set aside is for purchases, to support friends and makers with products I feel are made with so much love and talent. Come cart them out! Featuring works from @riceooli@claylapis@synceramic , whose ceramic stools can be up for rental for shoots too. Itās surreal for me because I personally know how much heart they have put into their craft. Always looking to collaborate with more artists so hit me up!

Little baby cup made with coils from clay hollowed out from the vase in the previous post.
One of my fav pieces to date.
It was completely unplanned and made with little effort and thought. Usually I overthink and overwork all my pieces (and am still rarely happy). So to have something so cute result from simply trying to recycle extra clay is really satisfying.
One of my biggest pieces I've made to date. It was tricky to keep the shape balanced and square while making the textures twist.
Used so many glazes in this one! I feel like instead of being strong and confident with my glazes, I hide by using many glazes stacked on each other, which makes the piece kind of muddy (I even used a glaze called muddy hippo).
A collection for my first ever š± exhibition @bigbig.smallsmall thanks to @syncstudio.sg@synceramic .
I love the clay (first time working with BRT clay), it's one of the most forgiving clays I've used. I can't wait to use it more.
I don't know how I feel about the collection overall. The textures are super satisfying but I feel like there's not much to the pieces beyond that. I hope to have a clearer and clearer voice as my works progress and mature.
As usual, I always lol at how many glazes it takes to create something that looks "brown".šš
Really happy with how this turned out. The marbled black and white strata, the charcoal shino glaze... One of my favourite pieces so far.
Two regrets for this piece: 1. The foot is a bit too high and 2. I put blue glaze on top of the charcoal on the inside of the piece. I think I should've either put the blue on itself (so that the blue pops more), or kept it just charcoal. Still trying to learn the "less is more" lesson.
This cup was pure play and exploration. I think I carved the outside in less than 10 minutes.
To be honest, this cup (labelled 01) and the one before this (labelled 02) were meant to be the start of 100 cups. But I'm no longer sure whether it makes sense to keep numbering my cups in this way.
Also, the clear glaze on the outside came out much thicker than I expected. So I'll have to adjust that in the future.
I tried to make the glaze on the inside more dramatic, but I feel like it just kinda came out "dirty".
I'm also a bit over how this clay looks kind of genetically grey. It's 4-5 clays marbled and recycled together over and over and over. It's time to change it up.
Love the size and shape of this simple sake-sized cup. I've been struggling to learn not to overdo it, and I think this one is a good reflection of my attempt at restraint. I think I still overdid the bottom though.
I LOVE the inside glaze on this one. Was very surprised by how it turned out! I used mostly green glazes, but somehow, the overall effect was a light purple?! Goes to show the importance of testing and experimenting with glazes.
