J D Z - BING DING 丙丁 | OCT 2026 The Bing Ding Wood Kiln, located in Qiancheng Village near Fuliang Jingdezhen China 浮梁景德镇潜城村, is a contemporary, award-winning, 1,800-square-meter facility completed in 2018 to revive traditional, 2,000-year-old wood-firing techniques. Apart from clay creation, the October program emphasizes hands-on wood-firing participation. Our artists will join the local wood firing team on a full firing schedule, taking part in every stage of the ceramic wood firing process. Mr. Yu Chen, owner of Bing Ding, who specializes in Designing, Building and also Kiln- Firing, will present us on the kiln’s history, architecture perspectives, and the technical principles behind the traditional egg- kiln. C H I NA - J D Z Day 1 to 3 Arrived in Jingdezhen at the Traveling Ceramics Studio 吟游陶艺工作室, Thankful to Dabai 大白 for his welcome; the space, the equipment, and every person I meet here will all become precious parts of my memory. By putting our thoughts and ideas into action, set us up closer to success. Thus, with everyone’s blessings and warmth in my heart, I set out on the 7th of January, 2026, to the city of porcelain. In this place that is both novel and unfamiliar, I try to feel and witness the various challenges I must face in the winter cold, adapting and balancing living and work, over the next twenty days, while continuing to pursue my creative direction and complete my works. _____ Delightful for the warm rice and clay on the first day, 大白 guided me on his motorcycle through narrow lanes to get acquainted with the streets, staying area, and studio space. Most importantly, I have myself narrowed down to five kinds of clay materials to work with for the start. After a simple experiment on the first day, I locked in the materials I would focus on for my creations on the second day. On the third day, I began the carving process and completed the quantity I had prepared on the first day. These achievements rest on the simple daily routine I’ve given myself. Thereafter, I needed to adjust for the tension in my muscles after labor, cracking skin on the tips of the fingers and lips, digestive regulation, and adaption to the cold. Currently, I have tea, coffee, hot noodle soup, hot rice, erguotou (a Chinese white liquor), sunshine, clay, books, and the companionship of fellow potters. Pushing my work forward with strength, quality and satisfaction.

L O A D E D / U N L O A D E D | ✨️✨️✨️ These two months (Feb & March) have been the most intensely congested period of cup-making yet, and I’m still learning how to navigate it all. The March school holiday family trip felt like a significant interruption to the production. It left my heart in deep dilemma — torn between my responsibilities to work, self-care, and family duties. But I love it! We had some precious fun 🫶 I’m still searching for wiser ways to resolve this inner conflict: if work could be easier with myself embracing unpredictability, accepting happenings, less over thinking and over seriousness, maybe I would dissolve and manage stress or saddness better. Even so, the strongest reminder coming through these days is to SLOW DOWN. To slow down even more. To feel my body, to create breathing spaces for appreciation. This message surfaced clearly while the group was carefully arranging the wares and setting up the display for our recent showcase. I was done, and felt really grateful with the various energy coming in to rework me and keeping me in place. So to say, if I could create anything, I would wish for my work to inspire. Even if this is a lifetime assignment of repetition, I would still choose to load every piece with thoughtful gratitude — infusing it with perpetual strength and energy, then unloading blessings and love to those who receive them. ______ Go strong and stronger with love :) Here i am, writing this post while on the way to Jingdezhen.
