I know this is cheesy, and I know it’s also a little uncomfortable to unload on the internet about something as heavy as losing a parent. But it always makes me feel less alone when I see other people share photos of their late parents— so here I am. This time of year, I think about my mom. Probably because spring time was the last season she was with me in body and mind. I had a deep dream about her last night, where she was still here but I knew she was leaving and I was grief stricken. Bartering with the universe to keep her here. Woke up chest sobbing with no tears. This photo was taken April 19, 2019 — almost exactly on this date, a few months before she died. We were out shopping for glasses. If you knew her you knew that woman LOVED shopping. Even then I knew it was crazy to spend hundreds of dollars on a bunch of new prescription glasses, when her hour glass timer was running low. Funny how someone can be so completely alive… until they’re not. Also sharing some of the Valentine’s Day cards she used to make for us by hand every year — and the tattoo I got a few years ago, based on one of them. A little piece of her I get to keep. Miss you, Mom. 🤍

Last night dad reminded me that my grandfather did 50 tours in WWII, was shot down by Germans over the Mediterranean. They thought they were dead. They landed in the ocean, all 10+ of them had just one flotation device between them. Saved by an English Destroyer - that had been cut in half and was still floating— grandpa’s head was sewn up by English soldiers without Novocain. He reminded me : Keep fighting and don’t stop until you’re dead, and you’re not dead yet!

It was my dream to follow in my Dad’s footsteps and go to Yale. When I was waitlisted, and then didn’t get in, I was devastated! It was as big and as far as I had dreamed. Last night, I called my father and told him that I’d been invited to speak, and he said, “I may have gone to Yale, but they didn’t invite me back.” 😂 It’s actually nice to come to Yale through the back door. Thank you @dressed_to_save_the_world Meital Peleg Mizrachi for the invitation to speak at your discussion group on Fashion Policy, and for bringing this topic to your PhD program and the school and for being such a great academic advisor to us at @americancircular

🏛️ Our Executive Lobby Day in DC brought American Circular Textiles members and policymakers together to discuss textile circularity, responsible trade practices, and domestic manufacturing. Our members represent a wide variety of companies operating in the circular economy across the United States. This gives us a broad perspective when discussing national policies around textile circularity. In DC, we provided critical private sector insights on existing and pending legislation, including the Americas Act, which we advocated for. We look forward to collaborating with policymakers on domestic manufacturing and workforce development in the months ahead. Thank you Congresswoman @chelliepingree for hosting us in your office and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati for sponsoring our private dinner.

Thanks to the @ctdausa - our nations’ oldest trade association- for inviting me to chat with your members to learn more about their businesses and ideate on how we can leverage policy to support them. Making things in the USA is a huge challenge, but also an opportunity. With domestic sustainability and circularity policy and regulations on the horizon, now is the time to come together as an industry. I also got to feel the vicuna wool of a $100,000 suit! I’ll take 10! :) #madeintheusa #sustainablefashion #circularity #sustainability
