Finally getting to share this wonderful news! "Blackbirds", written and directed by Joey Kaushik, as part of the @straight_8_ annual competition, has made it to the Top 8 for 2026. We are screening at the Cinema Olympia at Cannes on 16th May, 2026 followed by a World Premiere at the BFI Imax, London on the 23rd May, 2026. The film will have an Online Premiere on the 30th May, 2026 on Straight8's Youtube channel. Filmed on a Zenit Quartz super 8 camera with no post production and no retakes, Blackbirds is a story of two women and their meet-cute in a Mumbai local train as both of them try to reaffirm if their feelings are mutual.
