We are thrilled to hear this month from Alex, a tintype photographer. Alex’s large-format work employs the historic wet plate collodion process of the mid-nineteenth century. Rooted in a material practice that embraces slowness and imperfection, her evolving body of work reflects an optimistic commitment to storytelling, capturing vulnerability, and elevating the voices of the marginalized.
After her talk, you’ll also get the chance to view her solo exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) titled “Creative Resistance.” This series integrates interviews with portraiture of local artists committed to using their practice to push back on oppressive systems.

You could say Mandy does a lot, but that might be an understatement!
She is the owner and lead creative of MANMAN Studios, which focuses on graphic and interior design, but Mandy always has a few side hustles going that keep her life interesting! She created @SocialsByMANMAN (really fun small business connector themed parties), designs parties for others (@thesocialites_cincinnati ), rents out her newly renovated Victorian home (@the1890brickyhouse ) for parties, photoshoots, and overnights, and most recently opened @manopanoshop (a mini eclectic pop-up shop in Dayton, Ky)!
Our global theme for April is EMBER. The literal meaning of ember is a small piece of burning or glowing coal or wood in a dying fire. But as a metaphor, it means so much more.
We can’t wait to hear what special glow Mandy brings to CreativeMornings this month!
