VOCES American Historia: The Untold History of Latinos, takes viewers on a captivating journey, delving into both well-known and lesser-known stories of Latino history and contributions, spanning thousands of years from the Ancient Empires to the early 1970s. Through this exploration, he aims to shine a light on the rich and often overlooked history of Latinos while showcasing how Latino history is American history.

Sí se puede! - Dolores Huerta ✊🏽
“Yes we can” echoed through us as we crossed town. We were exhausted, closing in on the end of a marathon project in half a dozen cities but we were all so excited to spend time with Dolores. Her movement was not only an inspiration, it was an emulation of our crew, a mixture of Mexican, Filipino, and Latino dreams fueled by heritage, hope, and horchata.
Dolores has an intense aura about her. You can feel her deep spirit and her patient kindness. Nothing idle about it, like a match waiting to spark.
As we started filming at the farm, small planes began taking off into the sunset, apparently that’s how they sneak off without paying flight fees, and we held for sound, looking at each other in wonder, grateful for just a little more time to share in this energy together.
The “American Historia” project changed me profoundly. Never have I felt such community energy from so many people. Afterwards, I went deeper into my own research, discovering my ancestors who fought colonialism being the fuel of the fire inside me.

Puerto Rico, La Isla del Encanto, has always had special meaning for me, the sunsets are the most beautiful, the Coquitos the most sweet, the sounds of the coquis at night are like a lullaby and a greeting.
Another sunset ago, I got to go with the greatest crew, led by @bendejesus1 and @johnleguizamo , we met native Tainos, ate meals in the mountains, learned about faith, hope, and fearlessness from those pushing their culture forward. These lessons live within me always. As we drove around the island that summer, the sounds of Bad Bunny, Frankie Ruiz, reggaeton, Bomba, and salsa kept our hearts beating with new vigor. Thank you, gracias a todo, please celebrate your Boricuas today and everyday. 🇵🇷 💕
