My dance obsession (aka my midlife crisis) continues. Yesterday my brilliant teacher @s.tas.ia and I competed for @fadsuppermontclair at the New England Interegional Championships. We won 🥇 in our American Smooth championship and 🥈 in the scholarship competition. 1. Nastiya and me after our win. 2. Waltz 3. Tango 4. Fox Trot 5. Viennese Waltz (this one is really difficult!) 6. Nastiya and me again Thank you as always to my other teachers @ioanna_ptms and @findbalancewithkatie !!

What a truly electric night of music making – still soaring after closing out our Johnstown Symphony Orchestra season with a sold out performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana. We had over 125 singers on stage including our Johnstown Symphony Chorus, soprano Nicole Khouzami, tenor Shawn Roth, bass Christopher Herbert, Frostburg State University Chorale, and University of Pittsburgh Johnstown Concert Choir. The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra sounded truly wonderful on the Orff as well as Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde and Pärt’s Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten. This was the perfect way to close out my 10th anniversary season with the JSO. I’m so proud of all of the performers, and especially grateful to our devoted and ever-growing audience for their very enthusiastic support. Thank you all for making this music possible!

This week in Berlin, @wotan_is_catlady and I have been recording an album at the amazing b-sharp studios. Here is a clip of a new work that @juddgreenstein wrote for us. The text comes from my parents’ honeymoon journal and describes a scene in the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. Recording an album is so tough, mentally, physically, financially, spiritually, and emotionally, and I’m so grateful to my family and friends for their support, and most of all to Chris Reynolds for being the dream musical partner in this project. #gratitude #americanartsong #classicalvoice #newmusic

What a week this has been. A lot of us, myself included, are feeling so heavy about life, politics, America, democracy, humanity, the planet, existence. I’m anxious for sure. So, my trip this past week to Bogotá to perform Claude Vivier’s opera Kopernikus was a welcome balm. Being able to make music with wonderful and talented colleagues was an immense privilege. This was my 3rd time to perform this work of art, and I started to understand it a bit more. Vivier’s real world was unbearable at times (hell, he was murdered in 1983) but his fantasy realm is sublime. I didn’t know how much I needed to be in it this past week, in a beautiful city with these talented and deeply thoughtful musicians. #kopernikus #vivier #arepas #bogotaisawesome #vivacolombia

They let me play percussion. This is from today’s rehearsal for Claude Vivier’s opera KOPERNIKUS at the Festival Internacional de Música Clásica de Bogotá in Colombia. 🇨🇴 I feel really fortunate to be making profound music during such a chaotic time. #vivier #claudevivier #extendedtechniquesforthevoice #extendedtechniques #festivalinternacionaldemúsica @teatromayor @ascoa
