My exhibition ‘Spotted With Pansies’ has officially opened with the @niagaraartistscentre in St. Catharines, ON. Spotted with Pansies explores how landscape can be weaponized to enact harm against marginalized communities. A pansy is both a flower and a derogatory term for a feminine gay man, making it simultaneously beautiful and inflammatory. These works pervert ornamental tradition, embracing fashion and Internet culture as Queer muses. Overwhelming the architectural surface with spots underscores how Queerness is often rendered decorative and claustrophobic. This project was supported by the @ontarioartscouncil an agency of the Government of Ontario. Select works on loan from @demontignycontemporary . Photos by @margueritemorinart

Let’s take a moment to reintroduce the incredible Chris Glabb (@chrisglabb ) Chris Glabb(b. 2000) is an emerging artist of mixed Métis and European descent working between Canada and the United States. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Ottawa in 2024. His work has been presented in exhibitions across Canada and the United States, including XL at AXENÉO7 in 2023 and At a Glance at the Ottawa Art Gallery in 2025. He has presented solo exhibitions at the Shenkman Arts Centre in 2025 and the Niagara Artists Centre in 2026. Glabb recently completed a residency at Residency Unlimited in New York City, which culminated in a group exhibition in Brooklyn. His work centres issues of hierarchy, intersectional Queerness, and Indigenous identity through referentiality, humour, and the appropriation of existing images. With a Post-Pop sensibility, his practice draws from visual culture to question social belonging, using references as points of entry and recognition. Featuring RU artist-in-residence Chris Glabb (@chrisglabb ) in the RU voices interview series 🎤 Chris Glabb is a Canadian painter and print maker that aims to make the themes of Fine Art accessible through lowbrow referentiality, irony, a dry sense of humour, and the explicit appropriation of existing images. His practice is grounded in the philosophy that images and references function as social currency – tools that provide access to spaces, experiences, and opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible. Engaging with questions of hierarchy, intersectional Queerness, and Indigenous identities, Glabb employs a Post-Pop Art sensibility to redefine relationships between moments in culture through processes of image manipulation and printmaking. Video games, fashion, and non-objective painting provide recurring points of reference in his practice, shaping his ongoing examination of how popular imagery functions as a site of connection, critique, and cultural negotiation. Chris’ work was most recently part of the group exhibition “The Edges of Layers”, at Residency Unlimited from March 24-26, 2026. ✨A special thank you to @efa.rbpmw for providing Chris’ studio and for allowing us to shoot in their incredible space! #residencyunlimited #artistinresidence #ruresidency #chrisglabb
