On Friday, 22 May, the HYBRID Festival opens with three curated projects emerging from a university context, bringing together contributors from Freie Universität Berlin (Intervenierende Künste), Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, and Universität der Künste Berlin, showcasing artistic and research-driven practices developed within university contexts. On Saturday, 23 May, Viola Yip will open the program with The Ombré of Touch for body, air, inflatables and electronics "The Ombré of Touches" is an embodied electronic performance for Viola Yip herself and her self-built inflatable instrument with electronics. The piece explores touch as an multifaceted interface for listening and music making, developing a highly person-specific music through touching a volume of air. Following piece, Norbert Pape will present Turbulence. Introducing soundance pieces 2026: IT’S POSSIBLE 12 June 2026 at 7.30 at DOCK 11 The collaborative piece “It’s possible” with Axel Dörner and Christine Saulut Bonansea focuses on the subjects in conceiving a series of narrative experiences appearing as disconnected and fragmented actions. “It’s possible “ sets a radical rhythm — sequences unfolding with clear intention where only the task seems to carry meaning, held within a strict, active temporality that offers no obvious resolution.
The theater is used to emphasize the absurdity of life in building a system of arbitrary actions that would refer to our perception of reality. The outcome is not dramatic, but carries a state of auto-derision, embodying a contingency. Movements and sounds reveal the attention to life and the acceptance of the human condition, even in its own absurdity.
