Her Royal Majesty Obi Martha Dunkwu is the reigning omu of the Anioma people of Nigeria’s Delta State.
An omu, or queen mother, is a leader of women, custodian of the market, a spiritual guide to the community and the traditional ruler – a role that goes back more than 820 years and one that was greatly reduced by colonial rule. This important institution, with its ceremonial practices, comes with its own challenges but remains a significant part of holding communities together.

In my regular fashion, I’d stall on making plans for my birthday and then decide last minute to celebrate. My 30th was no different.
On the 8th of April, I received so many calls and messages and well wishes and i realized it will be a shame not to celebrate this life that God gifted me. It will be a shame if down the road, I regret not celebrating my 30th birthday which is kind of a big deal.
I called @maggieyellowflower_decor for decoration, we talked and decided on direction
I called my manager at my restaurant and catering business @cottabymaara and @feastbymaara and we prepped for the event!
I called @the_7even__ to plan video shoots and she pulled up!
I sent messages to everyone last minute and most people came through!
This is the end of how I planned and executed my birthday party in less than two days with the best team!
