Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Thank you to Muloma Heritage for welcoming me into the first cohort on St. Helena Island, SC and Savannah. This 7-day immersive experience was powerful, grounding, and deeply personal. We explored African American Atlantic foodways and their lasting impact on the cuisines we know today stories that live in every grain, every fire, every shared table. Being able to cook alongside Elders, to listen, to learn, and to connect with the Gullah Geechee community that I am a part of it meant everything. This journey felt like stepping into my lineage. My grandparents, my great-grandparents, and generations before them from Charleston were right there with me in spirit. I leave this experience not only inspired, but rooted even deeper in purpose. Honoring the past, nourishing the present, and carrying these traditions forward. Truly blessed. ✨ @muloma.heritage @thecookinggene @chefbjdennis @mashamabailey #MulomaHeritage #GullahGeechee #Foodways #CulinaryHeritage #BlackFoodways

A true master isn’t measured by how many follow them but by how many rise beyond them. In the kitchen, like in martial arts, the goal isn’t control it’s legacy. Teach so well that one day, your students outcook you. That’s the real victory @theculinaryinstituteofamerica

I wouldn’t be where I am without the women who paved the way for me. I’m honored to help clear the path for these young women. They are proof that the future of the culinary world is in excellent hands. 🥂 #InternationalWomensMonth
