In October 2023, Chrissy and Jay Kleberg embarked on an extraordinary journey, walking every inch of Texas’ coastline from the Louisiana border to the Rio Grande. Covering over 370 miles in just 21 days, they captured the rugged beauty and resilience of the Texas coast. Dive into the stories of scientists, conservationists, and local community members working together to protect our fragile coastal ecosystems. Chasing the Tide’s six-part documentary series premieres on Texas PBS stations starting October 5th and on the PBS app October 7th. Join us at the Houston Museum of Natural Science on Wednesday, April 15th! We are so excited to share stories about our journey, what we learned along the way, and why the Texas coast is so unique. Our book, Chasing the Tide: One Couple's 370-Mile Trek Across the Barrier Islands of Texas, which dives deeper into the issues and includes some personal stories and photos not seen in the 6-part PBS series, is sold out except for a few copies available through the museum! Thank you to everyone who joined us Wednesday for our special free program "Chasing the Tide" featuring conservationists Jay and Chrissy Kleberg. The Klebergs shared highlights and insights from their 370-mile trek across Texas’ barrier islands and what they learned about the rate of change occurring on the coast, its rich diversity of wildlife and what the future holds. Their journey is the focus of the @pbs documentary @chasingthetideseries and the book of the same name, which they signed for attendees following the talk. They also introduced the Trash Free Gulf project, which aims to prevent trash from reaching our waterways and the coast and raise awareness of Texas’ outsized role in the health of our rivers, lakes and oceans. You can learn more about this work at / Join our email list at the link in bio to learn about upcoming educational programs!
