Went back to back in the Masters 1/2/3 field @indycycloplex #majortaylorcx this past weekend and boy does it feel good. I was targeting this two race weekend and thanks to a boatload of hard work and patience along with a dialed plan and guidance from my friend and coach @stephenhyde I was able to get the job done. Let’s keep the train rolling into @kings_cx this weekend. ❤️‍🔥

What a solid end to my Midwest block. After 2 back to back wins at @indycycloplex Major Taylor CX, I aimed to carry the same momentum into my hometown race at @kings_cx , where I first started racing CX back in 2012 after transitioning from freestyle BMX to endurance cycling. The competition @kings_cx was far more challenging than Indy with @t38s @chris__drummond being competitors that were far more proficient than the previous weekend. They did not disappoint. Day 1 I took the holeshot to test their response and control the early portion of the race. Tim made a move past me and I locked onto his wheel for as long as possible. At some point Chris slipped by without my knowing and eventually took Tim’s lead spot. It was a challenging race negotiating so much 1/2 and SS traffic that made it easy to get lost in the wave. Finished out day 1 in 3rd place and on the podium with Tim whom I looked up to as a young BMX rider. I played a different hand on day 2, sitting back on the start and slotting in 4th wheel behind @rocketrichter . David is fast and can ride a pace that really helps create a race defining break from the rest of the field early on. We flowed together and dealt with the same 1/2 and SS traffic as the previous day. Fortunately I had more punch in the legs and was able to pop up a step next to Tim, finishing out the weekend with a 2nd place. @kings_cx is such an important race to me and the work that @bkrcng and @jhayes_cx puts into creating such a memorable experience doesn’t go unnoticed. I’m proud to share the first @ror_nyc x @trigon_bike CX01 frameset collaboration. A true CX frameset that has garnered a ton of attention and kind remarks from our recent local and national races where they debuted. We’ve been cultivating a great relationship with the folks at Trigon thanks to an introduction made by @lawrence_siu earlier this year. They’ve been an incredible partner to work with and truly open to our unique ideas of challenging the status quo from an aesthetics perspective. I had the opportunity to work with longtime friend and collaborator @aaconn.studio to shoot both of my bikes in his Cincinnati studio during the recent Midwest block. We chose to shoot one after an early morning CX practice and the other completely fresh. We also played with hypercolor lighting and shutter drags to encapsulate the energy of NYC and TPE while maintaining the integrity and quality of the manufacturing you can expect when choosing Trigon. Seems like a short four years ago I joined @ror_nyc . @lawrence_siu had a vision that was infectious and once I learned about it, was one that I was completely magnetized towards. Fast forward to today, I’m thankful he’s given me the opportunity to take a lead role in furthering the development of what has become a very unique team of individuals. Most know that I come from a freestyle BMX background, but what most don’t know is that I also spent most of my late teens and 20s as a BMX video producer responsible for a quarterly DVD series, similar to today’s online media publications, that solely focused on the discovery and platforming of young, up-and-coming talent. Many of those featured riders became instant industry names, traveled abroad extensively, gained media exposure, and ultimately locked in life changing deals. It was a true purpose and honestly life defining for me. This is a principal for me and one that I feel can often be lost in the “what’s in it for me” approach to cycling that I regularly hear. All too often, I witness people talking about what they can take from the sport without any indication on what they intend to give back to it. This entire thing is very fickle and unbalanced and it’s always been my pleasure to try and put back in double what I take out. As an athlete myself, who also values mentorship and development, I’m extremely lucky to have developed a friendship and coaching relationship with @stephenhyde , he’s one-of-a-kind, both as a person and athlete. He understands where I’ve been, where I’m trying to go, and who I am as a human. From a personality and communication standpoint, it just works, and once I figured that out, I had to expose the rest of my team to such an incredible experience. I’m so very thankful for the entire team and Stephen’s time to helping us become better bike riders and more importantly, stewards of the sport this weekend. It’s a milestone for this team and one that I’ll never forget. Special thank you to my dearest friend @aaconnsworld for participating and shooting some incredible images of this year’s camp. ❤️

Thank’s to everyone who came out to the first edition of the #crossbayroubaix Back in February we decided we wanted to do something special for the NYC cycling community beyond the usual PP or CP laps. Part of the vision was to expose new folks to the joys of off road cycling in hopes to grow our local CX community this fall. We had 39 riders show up which I have to say is more than I expected. The vibes were super positive and feedback constructive. We’ll definitely be making this an annual event, as it’s truly a pleasure to share these unique off road segments, often unknown by most, throughout NYC. Thanks to @ror_nyc and all my lovely teammates for chipping in to make this happen.
