#nowplaying: Macha Loved Bedhead: Bedhead Loved Macha. Such a perfect record! @thenumerogroup made me a very happy boy when they reissued this on LP! My CD has been in heavy rotation since it came out on Jetset in 2000. This has to be one of my all time favourite records! What a great note for Bedhead to exit on, it was also my introduction to the world of Macha. Perfection. #bedhead #macha #vinyl #reissue

It’s so rare in my now 30 years of playing in bands to be asked by folks I don’t know to play a show, even rarer when that show absolutely rules! @deep_archive is truly thrilled to be playing this fantastic bill put together by @puddlesplasherspromo ! Hailing from the jewel of Manitoba @fencing49827 draw water from all the best ponds, (think Polvo, Duster, Pavement, Slint). Their 2025 full length “Fencing Wikipedia” is one of my favourite discoveries of this year! @unproductive.music always dress to impress and have floored me each time I’ve been luck enough to have seen them! We’re truly honoured to be asked to play such a fantastic night of music! Advanced ticket link in my bio and I hope to see you at @greenroomyxe Thursday May 7th! #yxemusic #indierock #undergroundmusic #yxelocal

@adolyne only dress to impress. On a bill full of metal industry hopefuls full of cookie cutter agony it was important for the @saskmusic conference audience to be reminded that in the end your “metrics” don’t matter, your “streams” aren’t important and your art shouldn’t be “content”. There is another path. Some of us have spent our lives carving it. Support local art. #saskmetalsummit #yxemusic #saskmusic #adolyne #fucktheindustry

This is approaching pretty quickly! Grey Light District is stoked to be coming out of our annual hibernation to get loud @amigossk with our Queen City pals @blueyouthsk and @themoonrunners ! As usual this could be our only local showing for the year. We hope to see you there for all the unease and volume the night is likely to bring. #yxemusic #noiserock #earplugs #amigoscantina #posthardcore

Wow, last night was fantastic!! Thank you to everyone who braved the coldest night of the season to make it out and show your support for the artists, festival and our silly little concert series! It feels great to be back in 2026! To the artists @disastersources & @graemedyck , thank you from the bottom of our hearts for performing and composing such moving works. A huge thank you to my co-conspirator @darrenmillermusic for joining the @ambientobservatory team, his knowledge, experience and curatorial prowess have helped breathe new life into this old idea. Endless gratitude to @bwaytheatre and @winterruptionsk for believing in Ambient Observatory, providing a venue and all the bells and whistles that go into producing a night like this. Gratitude to @aiidensthename and @uglyskot for helping us cross the T’s and dot the I’s the day of the show. Last but far from least, Joseph from @prproductionssask had the @dbaudiotechnik_gmbh system absolutely singing and was such a pleasure to work with. What a fantastic night! Thank you and we’ll see you soon!! #experimentalmusic #yxemusic #noise #microsound

I’m getting excited for next Thursday! I feel unbelievably privileged to be able to present events with @darrenmillermusic as @ambientobservatory and to partner with amazing community organizations like @bwaytheatre and @winterruptionsk to make it happen! Thursday January 22nd at The Broadway Collective, 733 Broadway Ave. Doors: 8pm, Show: 8:30. Catholic Stare (Winnipeg, MB.) @disastersources Catholic Stare is the solo project of Saskatoon ex pat Aaron Scholz. Scholz is a multi instrumentalists who cut his teeth in Saskatoon’s robust underground music scene playing in wide range of bands (Auld Beak, Black Magik Pyramid, Haunted Souls, Slow Down Molasses, etc.). Since moving away from Saskatoon in 2021, Scholz co-founded the Montreal based festival @initialshockmtl and the label @disastersources while shifting his artistic focus to his solo project Catholic Stare. Catholic Stare ruminates upon the inextricable relationship between sound and place; how an individual’s meaningful perceptual experience with place is contextualized by the sounds created and heard within it. Via musique concrète and plunderphonics approaches, prairie history is dissected through site-specific sounds recorded across various time by various means. Graeme Dyck (Saskatoon, SK.) @graemedyck graeme dyck is a sound artist / researcher from Saskatchewan whose meandering practice variously involves field recording, audio programming, mathematics, poetry, visual art, fiction, and theory, and often centres questions of ecology, materiality, and our relationships with the nonhuman. graeme’s recent live electroacoustic work uses microsound techniques to unfold field recordings into crackling otherworlds, as part of the project ‘tell me again about the holocene,’ collaborations with and laments for our vanishing kin. graeme studied music and mathematics at the University of Saskatchewan and electroacoustics at the University of Birmingham, UK. We hope to see you all out at this and other Winterruptikn events! Tickets in the bio or festival wrist bands available at The Broadway Theatre website! #yxemusic #experimentalmusic #soundart #noise
