Meet our current capacity-building artists! Nasira Watts, a Black trans nonbinary multimedia artist, is a member of our 2025 ValleyCreates cohort. They labor to detail AfroFuturistic and AfroPessimistic stories of revolutionary love with BIPOC queer characters sitting at the center. Their alter ego, Entity, is known as Western Mass’s favorite shape shifting DJ “twink” who hosts some of the best drag shows in the area! Entity embodies “cunt” as the queer ballroom community would consider it: handcrafting looks for all their numbers, creating dynamic performance numbers and utilizing drag shows as a community organizing space. To mark the completion of their MFA in Creative Writing from UMass Amherst, and to celebrate their debut novel Tears of Joy they are throwing a book launch party like you’ve never seen - a night of writing, drag, and gold celebrating Blackness and Queerness! Have you worn wigs? Will you wear wigs? When will you wear wigs? A little compilation posts of some of the wigs I have styled over this past year! I vow from this point forward to document my styling work more…my mama got over 2500 hours as a licensed cosmetologist! I grew up in the hair salon (it was called Leopard Lady Hair Salon, how tea is that!) and I’m so grateful bc now I’ve got all these random ass skills!
