Initiated by artist Maximilian Thiel in 2020, it has grown into a collaborative space where artists are invited to realize their projects, exchange ideas, and host workshops exploring a wide range of ceramic techniques — with a special focus on ancient and archaic firing methods. Since 2024, Renné Rosas has become a vital part of the Pumpwerkstatt community. As an artist working across ceramics, performance, and multimedia, she co-organizes the workshop program and has helped shape the vision for the upcoming 2025 season together with Maximilian Thiel. For this edition of the Ceramic Salon, you’ll be able to see works by Tina Deli Keegan Luttrell Carlota Ortiz Renné Rosas Max Thiel Snow Paik Elise Weyland and a collective altar installation created by the community. After the Salon, stay for our Pumpwerk Kollektiv Bar Evening — with music, food, and good company in a beautiful setting. The exhibition brings together a cross-section of ceramic practice from this community, from sculptural vessels to objects and furniture, and traditional wood-firing to experimental 3D printing. Each piece speaks to a different approach to working with clay, reflecting the medium’s versatility and the maker’s personal relationship to material, technique, and form. Born from the ongoing Ceramic Salon— a series of intimate studio visits centred on shared work and creative exchange. FORMED is an extension of these conversations, bringing the multifaceted practice of working with clay into the public sphere. The exhibition brings together a cross-section of ceramic practice from this community, from sculptural vessels to objects and furniture, and traditional wood-firing to experimental 3D printing. Each piece speaks to a different approach to working with clay, reflecting the medium’s versatility and the maker’s personal relationship to material, technique, and form. By opening this dialogue within an exhibition context, we aim to encourage a wider audience to connect with the exciting breadth of ceramic practice and the Berlin-based community behind it.
