Our second annual C4C Creator Fair is in the books! We had a beautiful day with more than a dozen #Pitt student and staff artists showcasing their creativity, and over 200 visitors. Thanks to all of our creators, and special thanks to our community partners who turned out to share their services and resources: @pie.burgh , @creative_reuse , @prototypepgh , @pghzinefair , and @thedrawingboardpgh .

March marked our tenth anniversary, so we threw ourselves a party! 🎉 We had so much fun connecting with friends both old and new, working together on a collaborative art project, making sticker selfies 🤳🏼, and generating ideas for future collaborations and programs. Thanks to everyone who turned out to help us celebrate. We're excited to launch another decade of creativity at #Pitt. #H2P #PittNow #PittCreates (Photo credits: Aimee Obidzinski)

Throughout the 10 years of the C4C, members of the Pitt community have taken time to put their thoughts to paper using our old-school typewriters right here in the Workshop. 📇 Stop by and flip through written words from years past, or type out your own poem or prose!

From 2021 to 2023, the C4C hosted a creative writing program for LGBTQIA+ elders (ages 50+) called "In Our Own Write." The 2022 cohort produced a chapbook of writing that we hand-bound in the Text & conText Lab. In 2024, the program transformed into "Writing GenQ," which brought together different generations of queer folks, from undergrads to retirees, to share their stories through poetry and short nonfiction.

Many of us have a favorite pen: felt tip or rollerball, that perfect ink color or the one the just fits comfiest in your hand. ✍🏾 But how many pens can draw IN THE AIR? At C4C: The Workshop, we have 3D pens that can bring ideas to life with a minimum of fuss. Create a peaceful bench scene, a leafy tree 🌳 or just zone out and let the filament speak to you. Our tools are yours to explore, and if you're not sure how, our staff can get you started. Come get curious! 🤔

Our Workshop space in the University Store is full of fantastic equipment, ready for anyone to walk in and use, including a beginner-friendly XTool laser cutter. Why do a test print with anything but a cat puzzle, painted by C4C student worker Henry?

In 2023, the C4C partnered with Pitt’s Year of Emotional Well-Being to bring the @imfineproject to campus. This statewide community initiative raises mental health awareness and support through art. “I’m fine” consists of a series of workshops in which participants make ceramic masks that represent those we wear to portray, minimize, or hide emotions and mental health challenges. At workshops in January and February 2023, Pitt students, faculty, and staff created masks to tell their stories and sat for a session with photographer Ariel Skovera. The result was an affecting mixed-media installation including a selection of the ceramic masks as well as photos and text from some of the creators' stories. Following the campus exhibition, “I'm fine” curators Carrie Breschi and Maureen Joyce collected the masks and displayed them as part of a statewide exhibition in 2024.
