Meet our amazing #CellExplorers Ambassadors Phu & Xilia who hosted 35 guests from Tuam Bru Bhride WTID community for a VIP STEM experience on Saturday 2nd March. Our young guests received bookings to Fantastic DNA, a physics show, free time & lunch! They liked it so much they even registered to an extra « slime » workshop. At the end of the day our guests left with a Cell Explorers goodie bag to be able to do Fantastoc DNA at home. Thank you so much for attending, it was a pleasure to host you! Thank you Phu & xilia for giving your time so that the event could run smoothly. The day was organised by Kristin Anderson in collaboration with Mary from Bru Bhride primary health care and the organisers of the Engineering week family fun fay. This event is supported by our #medtronicfoundation funded GROWS project. ##cellexplorers #westerntravellerinterculturaldevelopment

We usually train every new recruit at Fantastic DNA as a first practical activity training. This training has been run by the fantabulous Kate this semester through 4 or 5 sessions. Here are few pictures of the training of the project students! Special thanks to the team behind the scene recruiting and training new members: Kate, Clara, Katie, SarahBeth, Kristin, shannon, Talia, Muriel. It is sometimes tricky to schedule and can be time consuming but it is essential to our activities. #scienceoutreach #communicationtraining

Appreciation post for all our team members, their work and commitment that led to our shortlisting for Outreach Initiative of the year at the #THEAwards 2023. We did not win that night but we always win at sharing the passion of science communicated through your commitment and enthusiasm. Thank you! On the evening of the Awards in December 2023, Shannon was flying the Cell Explorers flag at #THEawards ceremony in Liverpool. It was Lovely to see her with Eimear a postgraduate fellow and #CellExplorers team member! Shannon is an Irish research funded PhD researcher in our research group, a Final Year undergraduate project alumna & part of the coordination team. No better representative than her! #EducationResearch #LoveIrishResearch Eimear is a #CellExplorers volunteer. SHe kept the Galway team going during the COVID19 years delivering many sessions from Naples during her research work there! She attended the ceremony with her supervisor nominated for best supervisor prize #ScientistroleModel #WomeninStem Times Higher Education @universityofgalway @scienceireland
