Five young people from Muintir Bháire Foróige Club in West Cork took on a challenge for RTÉ’s Prime Time… a full week without social media. No Instagram. No TikTok. No Snapchat. No YouTube. Instead, they kept video diaries, sharing what it was like to switch off, what they noticed about their sleep, mood and school, and how they spent their time when the scroll stopped. The result? A really honest, thoughtful and sometimes funny look at what happens when young people step away from social media for a week. Watch the full Prime Time piece via the link in our profile. #WeAreForóige | @rtenews

On Friday, we welcomed President Catherine Connolly to Foróige The CRIB in Sligo. She spent time with Foróige young people and staff, listening closely to young people’s experiences and what’s shaping their lives right now. Young people led the conversations, spoke openly about what matters to them, and showed the real impact of youth work rooted in trust, relationships and community. A meaningful visit that recognised young people’s voices and the value of youth work in Sligo. #WeAreForóige | @presidentirl | @foroigecribsligo

Big ideas. Big ambition. Big wins. A huge congratulations to Shay McDevitt from St Columba’s College, Stranorlar, Co. Donegal, who was crowned Foróige NFTE Youth Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 at this year’s national final in Croke Park with his business SMD Detailing. From innovative products to purpose driven social enterprises, more than 120 young people from across Ireland came together to showcase creativity, confidence and serious entrepreneurial talent through the Foróige Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship programme. Massive congratulations as well to all of this year’s finalists and category winners who brought incredible energy, ideas and passion to the stage. The standard this year was outstanding! A huge thank you to the teachers, youth workers, volunteers, families, mentors and judges who support and encourage these young people every step of the way. And most importantly, thank you to the young people themselves for showing what’s possible when creativity meets confidence and ambition. #WeAreForóige #NFTE #YouthEntrepreneurship @smddetailing_

💻 Today, Noah and Katelyn from Foróige’s Connect Safely Youth Advocacy Group addressed the Joint Committee on Children and Equality on the Safety and Wellbeing of Children Online. Sharing their lived experiences, they spoke about misinformation, online harm and the need for safer, more accountable digital spaces. Delighted to see youth voices not only included, but genuinely listened to and actively informing this process. Supported by Foróige Connect Safely staff Jessica Murphy and Anthony O’Connor. #WeAreForóige

The energy was electric in Termonfeckin as Foróige young people from across Ireland came together for the first meeting of the newly elected Reference Panel. For the first time ever, all 64 members were in the room. That says everything about the commitment and drive behind this group. Across the weekend, young people led the conversation. Big topics, real opinions, and a clear focus on what matters most. From social media and online safety, to inclusion, voting at 16, and the future direction of Foróige. Sixteen young people were elected to National Council and will now carry this work forward, turning ideas into action. A huge thanks to the volunteers and staff who made it all happen. #weareforóige

Foróige young people took to the national stage this weekend at the FIRST® LEGO® League Final in Dublin. After months of building, coding and problem solving, three Foróige teams represented their communities with real creativity and teamwork: ⚪️ Lego Lords of Lismore, Foróige West Waterford ⚪️ South Leitrim NYP, Leitrim ⚪️ Robo Robins, Foróige Mhaigh Cuillinn Club, Galway, winners of the Judges Motivate Award From robotics and coding to confidence, communication and collaboration, this is what it looks like when young people are given the space to explore what they’re capable of. Fair play to every Foróige young person who stepped up and took part. #WeAreForóige | @creativehut.ie

Young people’s voices matter. The Department of Children, Disability and Equality is developing a new eLearning course to help adults across the public sector understand and respect the rights of children and young people. To make sure the course reflects real experiences, young people across Ireland are being asked to share their views through a short survey. It only takes about five minutes to complete. If you are a young person, take part and help shape how adults understand and support children and young people’s rights. Take the survey at the link in our bio. @deptcde | #weareforóige

It wasn’t just another image in the group chat. It was his sister. When something is shared online, it doesn’t stay contained. It reaches people you know. People you care about. This isn’t just about one message. It’s about real lives and real consequences. Created by Foróige young people in Blanchardstown, this video highlights how forwarding content can hurt others and carry serious legal weight. Foróige supports Foróige young people in staying safe and respected online. #Foroige #ThinkBeforeYouSend #OnlineSafety @ddletb @irishhealthservice
