Showing one of my ceramic works at the
@futurefinds.ca residency at
@batherslibrary 🐚🛖 While life/work/world has been shifting wildly, it’s incredibly meaningful for me to continue to share remnants of this more subconscious side of my art and craft practice. Let me know if you visit the show!
Future Finds is a fictional store selling artifacts of ecological remnants from the Bay Area, set in the Year 2100. Over the next several weeks there will be talks workshops performances in the space (until 2/22 no less)
Umbilical Head is a continuation of my
@cousin.fyi Otherworldly Offerings series, where rough, rocky, and wild organic functional forms suggest artifacts and gifts from distant or alternate places, not distinctly past or future. Umbilical Head’s shifting orientation as bust, bulb, tail, fin, or off-kilter light creates a visual conundrum, with its light serving as both inner source or outer signal depending on where the viewer sees it originates from. Hand built and pit fired in Pacifica, CA using found wood and dried horse dung as fuel, the piece is rooted in Bay Area land and cycles of reuse and communal craft practices.
