Beloved Chinatown cultural icon and legendary artist Leland Wong takes center stage in this special solo exhibition, "Born of Fire", presented as part of our CCC After Dark series.
With a vibrant career spanning photography, design, printmaking, and mural art, Leland Wong’s work has helped shape the visual identity of San Francisco Chinatown and Asian America for generations.
This new exhibition showcases Wong’s dynamic and evolving dragon imagery, a signature motif in his practice. His dragons are more than mythological figures, they are symbols of resistance, irreverence, transformation, and boundless imagination. 🐉
Featuring a rare presentation of Leland’s original, one-of-a-kind paintings, this is a chance to experience an artistic voice that is rooted in cultural symbolism yet unmistakably his own.

✨The "Ember" exhibit ignited its opening night on August 8 at the CCC Design Store!
Through our collaboration with Art Together Hong Kong @arttogether_hk , we welcomed artists Hanison, Lau Hok Shing, Tang Kwok Hin, and Cheng Yee Man for their month-long Artist Residency celebrating Hungry Ghost Festival (coming Saturday, August 23!)
The evening unfolded as visitors wandered between art pieces, got their hands dirty in the Torn Paper workshop, then gathered to watch "Grandpa Tang," a deeply moving documentary by indigenous walled-village resident and artist Tang Kwok.
These moments of connection–between art and community, tradition and innovation, stories and the people who need to hear them–is what our Afterdark events are about.
The "Ember" exhibit burns bright through the end of August.

CCC is proud to present the Design Store After Dark series—a monthly program that transforms 41 Ross into a vibrant evening gathering space every second Friday of the month. Whether we’re dancing to a DJ, creating art, or sharing stories through spoken word and song, each event celebrates community resilience, cultural dialogue, and creative action.
As a Hong Kong-San Francisco art exchange initiative of the Hungry Ghost Festival 2025: Demons of Our Times, “Ember” features visiting artists and curators Hanison, Lau Hok Shing @lau_hok_shing_hanison Tang Kwok Hin @tangkwokhin and Cheng Yee Man. It seeks to bridge that gap through the presentation of elements such as fire, light, and burning, which are powerful mediums of spiritual communication. The exhibition attempts to reconnect two realms, address what has been lost, and reimagine ritual contact across borders.

CCC 驕傲推出“CCC 設計商店夜間系列”——一個每月舉辦的社區項目，於每月第二個星期五晚間，將舊呂宋巷 41 號轉化為充滿活力的集會空間。無論是隨著 DJ 音樂起舞、動手創作藝術，或透過詩歌與音樂分享故事，每場活動都致力於慶祝社區韌性、文化對話與創意行動。
本系列的第二場活動由本年度華埠鬼節展覽拉開序幕 ，是次展覽由藝術到家(香港)策劃，展出香港駐地藝術家劉學成、鄧國騫及鄭怡敏的作品，回應華埠鬼節之傳統與現代語境。展覽開幕當晚香港駐地藝術家劉學成、鄧國騫、以及藝術到家(香港)前藝術總監鄭怡敏將到場與街坊觀眾互動。開幕活動包括藝術家電影放映，撕紙工作坊以及民間鬼故收集。
策展人語
「火」、「光」是立體的，它劃破黑暗空間，讓參與祭祀者觸碰和試探禁忌，可以是溝通「兩地」的開端，可以是進入禁忌的過程，可以是主動的探索，可以是被動的參與，也可以是禁忌的終結，終結之後只餘下灰燼。當然，一件事的終結可以是另一件事的開始。
三藩市法例上禁止戶外公共地方進行燒衣化寳，對於傳統鬼節而言，缺少了「火」、「光」、「焚燒」……彷彿與靈界之間接觸不良、訊號微弱，是一種缺失。是次展覽正透過展示「火」、「光」、「焚燒」等與另外一個國度溝通的元素，嘗試搭通「兩地」，去填補這些缺失。

Our first event, We Protect Us, is a call to collective care and creative resistance. As threats against queer, trans, immigrant, and other marginalized communities escalate, we’re building knowledge, networks, and solidarity to keep each other safe.
🛡️ 5:30 - 7 PM Know Your Rights Workshop
Led by Chinese for Affirmative Action (@caasanfrancisco ), this session equips participants with vital tools to protect themselves and their communities from immigration enforcement. Learn what to do if you or someone you know encounters ICE, and gain the knowledge to stand strong and united.
🎨 7 - 9 PM Poster Making Workshop
Led by CCC Design Store artist Katie Quon / @realsoul.us this hands-on, family-friendly workshop invites you to turn powerful messages into bold visuals. Using bilingual slogans like “Abolish ICE” and “No One Is Illegal on Stolen Land,” participants will create posters that may be distributed to local businesses throughout Chinatown—turning art into public resistance. A Chinese translator will be on-site to support participants of all ages to speak their minds through art.

面對當前聯邦政府移民執法行動的升級，移民社區正受到前所未有的威脅，華人權益促進會透過舉辦『了解你的權利』工作坊來支援社區。歡迎你參與我們的講座，學習如何在面對移民及海關執法局（ICE）時，能夠保護自己及社區。透過分享移民權益知識和社區資源，我們的社區將變動更團結強大，阻止更多的家庭被迫分隔異地。 社群海報創作（由 Katie Quon／REALSOUL 帶領）
