Thank you to everyone who joined us for BRJE’s second annual Rising Together Spring Mixer on May Day! With the support of individual donors and @brooklinebooksmith , we raised over $15,000 to help sustain our work. We’re feeling grateful, energized, and ready for what’s ahead.

Blessings… I received an email on Friday from curator @jasper_a_sanchez that
a producer for the program Chronicle WCVB Channel 5 in Boston reached out to the Triennial.
He is producing a piece for TV about one of the Mass Humanities 250
Grants that support forums to tell the story of Mark, Phillis, and Phebe.
He came across my project The Resurrection of Mark, Phillis, and Phebe created for Lot Lab and the documentary of me speaking and the processional, and asked @thetriennial for some of that footage and audio to include as an inspiring end to the segment.
This Chronicle feature will air Tuesday February 24th at 7:30 pm on Chronicle (WCVB5) TOMORROW PLEASE tune in!
I am so grateful to the ancestors Mark, Phillis and Phebe for allowing me to share their story with the beautiful installation created just for them. I’m grateful to everyone who visited the sculpture, who took part in the processional and other rituals we held for these ancestors.
I am honored and proud that my work will be recognized as part of this Chronicle segment that will continue to bring their story to life.
Mark, Phillis and Phebe were human beings enslaved by John Codman.
Their story is one of great heartbreak. The installation created for them was an opening of a portal for healing for their souls.
Mark, Phillis, and Phebe have communicated with me through folks with special abilities that they are very happy with the sculpture, very happy with the time we all spent with them.
May their names, their stories, their history live on forever.
Say their names.
Mark. Phillis. And Phebe.
Ase’ and Amen.
Thank you @marleneboyette for assisting
with the channel 5 logo.

Grateful to everyone who joined us for Brunch with BRJE this weekend! ☕ 💛
For those who couldn’t attend, we shared updates about who we are and where we’re headed. A key announcement: we’re bringing back monthly member meetings, creating a consistent space to learn together, coordinate action, and stay connected. We also discussed our upcoming high school fellowship and a spring film screening at the Coolidge!

A reminder that BRJE’s work is only as strong as the community behind us. We’re so deeply grateful for people of all ages and backgrounds who showed up at Brookline United for Immigrant Justice to engage, learn, and speak out. We encourage everyone to take that energy forward and lean into community power — talk to your neighbors, build mutual aid, and show up for one another.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our recent conversation with Mar Parilla, Cornell Colley, and Ifé Franklin, moderated by Ashleigh Gordon.
It was a gift to gather in community and hear these powerful artists reflect on culture, placemaking, and the beautiful connections that emerge when both are centered. Their insights offered a moving glimpse into the spirit of MassQ Ball 2025.
We’re so grateful for your presence and for helping make the evening so meaningful.

Brookline showed up! 🙌 Our Brookline United for Immigrant Justice event brought neighbors, advocates, and leaders together — and together, we raised $8,500 (and counting) for Fuerza, La Colaborativa, Lawyers for Civil Rights, and the LUCE Network.
A special thanks to Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell, and our incredible panelists Gladys Vega, Iván Espinoza-Madrigal, and Jonathan Paz.
This is what people power looks like.💥
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of In Plain Sight. This powerful exhibition, curated by Archy LaSalle, presents the perspectives of Boston’s next generation of Black and Brown photographers.
🗓️The show is open to the public through October 5 in the Nye Gallery.
