Some of you may already be familiar with the story of Panâs flute, the wild and ancient Greek myth of a half-man, half-goat, ruler of forests, music, and the untamed. The myth tells of Pan, who relentlessly pursues the nymph Syrinx. In her desperation to escape him, she begs the river gods for help and is transformed into reeds. Pan, unable to possess her, cuts the reeds and fashions them into his flute, so that her voice becomes his music.
âPanâs Delirium tells the story from the nymphâs perspective: vulnerable, curious, and hesitant, awakening by the river through the touch of Spirit.
Watched by Pan, who desires her, and guided by Spirit, who protects them both, the nymph begins to discover her own body, identity, and independence. Though she first appears as part of Panâs dream, she slowly realizes that she has a self that extends beyond his gaze.â
