@casskidd presents: UNEARTHED VOL.1 - the first ever Channel Alt compilation album. Artwork and tracklist is officially out in the world, full project landing tonight at 12am (GMT) 🌐
This is our debut statement as a label and platform, a 12 track compilation pulling together artists Cass has championed across his weekly radio show Alternative Selection on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Channel Alt Live music showcases and online, now living together on one project.
Spanning Indie, Electronic, Alt Pop, Alt Rap, R&B and Bedroom Pop, every record on here was hand picked, sourced or produced by Cass himself. It’s his return to making original music and a continuation of the mission that started on radio, unearthing future facing artists and giving them a proper home.
Six singles in and you’ve already had glimpses into Little Me, Seattle Fuzz, Horizon, Loose Change, WHATIMINTO and Clean, but Friday 28th November, the full picture arrives. Twelve different vibes, twelve boundary pushing voices, one project that connects scenes and stories across the UK and beyond. This is what Channel Alt sounds like in album form.

We've maintained our mission to showcase talent from then until now. Lo-Wu's growth through music with @dipsandlowu to cultural commentary, including work with @vam_east , is inspiring. Over a decade of connecting fueled by music and culture.

TRAckLIST: A humble, talented musician and DJ I’m happy to have stayed in contact with all these years. I’ve seen India traverse through genres and hone her sound to what incorporates organic drums aka ‘Organic UKG’ or I call ‘Mahogany UKG’ (we’re working on it). Any time I can provide firsts, I will and so we did our first back to back. UKG was the musical tool of choice for the two step mission.
Taking discovering to another level from the Mobius fx on the mixer, to a cheeky exclusive from India. A time was had. As you’ll hear, we’re two music makers who appreciate texture. It’s got to feel how it sounds! 🤌🏾🪵🎛️🍯
TRAckLIST: The final straight. All roads led to homegrown music, tapping into nostalgia and the future of British music all in one go. A Global Discovery show that reminded me the U.K. has always been innovative with pushing the boundaries of dance music on home turf and further afield. 🇬🇧🇪🇺📍
TRAckLIST: This is what happens when you bring some of the most exiting names pushing their roots through their music. The first of many, the U.K. Diaspora Cypher featuring Ghana representatives @ceeshoo and @nin0nat and Nigerias, @deelagram and @thatboypwavey . 🇬🇭🇳🇬🌍
TRAckLIST: One of the coolest artists I’ve ever discovered, with influences spanning across the north-eastern region of Africa and further afield. Not only is @alewya11 bracing herself for a debut album, but we got a glimpse ‘Selecta Alewya’ in our back-to-kind-of back mix.
A lot of firsts. My first time hearing the selections, spanning Gnawa, Somali, Moroccan, Sudanese to songs parallel to her Egyptian, and Ethiopian roots. A first on 1Xtra, her first time on 1Xtra, my first time mixing with the copilot. 🌍
TRAckLIST: Need I say anymore? You can see the joy music brings and @ife_ogunjobi didn’t disappoint. An award winning musician, whether through his solo releases or through his brothers, @ezracollective , the brief was simple - music from the motherland. Here are some of my favourite moments, in our first back to back DJ set together.
TRAckLIST: At the start of the year, I set myself a challenge to discover continental music. This led me to Africa, the motherland. This show celebrates Ghana’s independence and the Queens of Africa while showcasing the diverse sound across the region’s cardinal points. A perfect way to continue the rest of the musical journey on air.
