✨ Echoes of Emptiness ✨
An evening of community kirtan, meditation, and storytelling.
Join Dorje Lopön Chandra Easton, Tantric Buddhist teacher and devotional chantress, for an evening of sacred sound exploring the “echoes of emptiness”: the empty yet vividly appearing nature of sound, thought, and all phenomena.
Rooted in Buddhist and Hindu Tantric traditions, this gathering offers an accessible, joyful entry into devotional music and meditation for all levels. Through call-and-response chanting, mantra repetition, silence, and storytelling, we move together into the meeting place of sound and stillness.
Dorje Lopön Chandra will be joined by music collaborators Ramana Erickson, Jesse Sheehan, Cassian Rose, and Robert James Ryan III, weaving voice, melody, and rhythm into a shared field of practice.
This is a participatory experience, not a performance. You’re welcome to sing, listen, rest, or move as the practice unfolds. No prior experience with chanting or meditation is needed.

A guided pre-jam class will be from 8:00 - 9:00p and then will flow directly into a jam until 10:30p. In class, we’ll explore themes of weight-sharing, counterbalancing, signaling, listening, and everything in-between. The jam that follows is an opportunity to continue researching your movement & relational curiosities that sparked from class. First-timers and experienced dancers are all very welcome!

Teacher & Host - Merrick Jacob is a lover of movement, continuously in awe of the body and its potential for delightful expression, wild creativity, & authentic connection. Influenced by her practices of contact improvisation, figure skating, acroyoga, and hand-balancing, she guides playful movement experiences as an opportunity for deep listening, research, and co-creation. Merrick hosts contact across the SF Bay Area.
Musician - Cassian Rose is an Oakland-based musician and sound artist. His work is highly improvisational with classical, jazz, rock, and experimental roots. He creates acoustic-electric performances, creating lush textural soundscapes that blend violin and vocals with live looping and audio processing effects.
