Casey’s introduction to character and clown workshop - for artists who are fed up with the normal constraints of comedy and are looking to create something beyond themselves.
During the course, Casey will help you discover and refine your true comic voice as a performer, before using this to create engaging comedic characters which feel both dynamic and authentic to you.
All experience levels are encouraged to attend, as are artists working outside of comedy who are looking to broaden their creative horizons.
Casey's Bio
Casey is a multi-award winning comedic performer based in Melbourne, Australia.
His debut show ‘Virtuoso’ was critically acclaimed, receiving 5 stars from The Age, winning ‘Best New Show’ at the Adelaide Fringe 2024 and twice playing the Edinburgh Fringe.
Casey’s new show ‘Casey Filips: What a Character’, recently won a weekly award for ‘Best Comedy’ at the Adelaide Fringe, before playing a successful season at MICF where he received three five star reviews.
Casey trained at the National Theatre (2015-17), Melbourne and the prestigious French Clown school Ecole Philippe Gaulier (2019 & 2023). He has also worked extensively as a comedic director, working closely with Reuben Solo on his Australian and European tours, Aidan Jones’ smash hit ‘Chopin’s Nocturne in Eb Major’ and He Huang stand up special 'Chinese Leftover’ among others.

What an incredible couple of weeks performing ‘What a Character’ @melbcomedyfestival .
It’s a pretty scary thing creating your second show - and there are so many times where doubt creeps in along the way and you question yourself.
So to receive such amazing feedback, play to so many amazing sell out crowds and do it all with my favourite people by my side was yet another dream come true.
